A simple checkmark setting under Interface > Display to make the equipped ranged weapon (and quiver) appear on hunter characters. It would be a very welcome addition for the hunter player base and does nothing to harm the classic experience.

I would love this, I even equip a quiver on my rogue and warrior just for style reasons…
Neither would an option to switch on retail character models or upgraded textures.
Problem is, whether or not something harms the game or not, stopped factoring in as an argument long ago, when #nochanges stopped being a design philosophy, and became an ideology.

Perhaps I could make the argument that this is a balance issue?
Not being able to see a hunters ranged weapon, especially in PvP, hurts your decision making as to whether or not you should attack or avoid.
