Can we ban Auctioneer?

why would you even want to use the terrible default AH ui people?
It was always bad.

It has made me realise how much they have done to the Retail default AH UI!!!

I have not given in to using an AH addon so far but I’m considering it.

For classic I think the only relevant addon is Tradeskillmaster? I am quite happy with how it works and also allows to switch back to the blizzard UI at a click.

Would you mind sharing it please?

Ofc, I wish I could remember where the post was to give credit. The forum is moving very fast atm.

Quickfix one from wowinterface

blame #nochange so we have this horrible AH interface again even worse than the already horrible current ah design in bfa =)

and auctioneer was already a thing back then so its part of the game because without the AH is not bearable simple as that

The default UI has been junk for 15 years, doesn’t it still arrange them by bid price?

You really shouldn’t have to install an AddOn or use a script to properly use the auction house but you literally have to if you don’t want to waste time or get ripped off by people playing the system.

What he said.

Or let us search for our preferred stack size.

It is the players not the addon. And there will be enough left entering single item stacks with or without the addon. Furthermore, the addon exists since Vanilla, so why should Blizzard start banning it now when they did not do it for the whole time that WoW exists? This discussion started 15 years ago. I don’t think that anything will change now.

Edit: Maybe they should just limit the number of auctions that you can have at a time. Or the number of auctions that can be entered in a certain timeframe. Or add more search options.

Or compress them by price.

A thousand cloths for 1 silver? It would just say 1000 stacks of 1.

It’s really easy to do it’s absolutely appalling that blizzard hasn’t done basically anything in 15 years.

Layering didn’t exist 15 years ago yet here we are.

The abuse of Layering is making it easier for some people to gather materials and in turn they can then also abuse the auctioneer add-on to fill the listings with their one-stack items.

Just let people search for their preferred stack size. Auctioneer gets to stay without it having a negative impact on players.

Well that’s not classic and auction addons get to stay anyway so it’s just a case of deal with it, sorry.

We’ve been crying out for more functionality in Retail for years, but yes it’s still too basic, it can sort by buyout price in Retail though unlike Classic, but I can do that with a script now.

Please explain to me how being able to search for a preferred stack size would ruin the Classic experience.

Also you seem to be ignoring that the farming abuse of Layering (which was not around in Classic) is connected to the auctioneer add-on abuse. Nice.

Because it’s not the classic experience. That’s like me saying explain to me how putting a big yellow smiley face on the Mona Lisa would ruin it. It’s a modern improvement.

The add-on doesn’t cause that and there is no abuse involved afaik. Seems like legitimate gameplay to me and it’s not like the economy should be treated seriously anyway.

Okay but you do realise there is a lot in the game that isn’t part of the Classic experience, right? We didn’t have raid frames and auto loot in Vanilla. Hunter pets have much better pathing than in Vanilla. Layering didn’t exist. Real ID didn’t exist.

I have yet to see a post complaining about the above and more. I seriously doubt a small QoL feature like searching for a preferred stack size in AH would be considered a big enough change to make Classic feel far less like Vanilla. Not if so few are saying anything about the above.

Stairs don’t kill people but banisters and railings are installed anyway.

Because that’s the “Classic” way. #VanillaExperience

Sure, it won’t but it’s still not classic. The other changes don’t justify more changes either.

Terrible analogy.
