CensusPlusClassic blocked by Blizz

It was a really good idea for looking over there!!! We may yet find answers on their forums.

But its strange, cause when you enable verbose in addon, it launches /who 60-60 without result. But if you manually executes /who 60-60 it works…

Anyways, anyone knows if somebody is trying to update/fix it?

I think that the way this API works now, it requires user action for each query. So Census addon could be adapted, but user would need to press a button every time addon needs more data. I’m not sure whether its author will adapt it, though.

Or maybe it’s to break that annoying auto layer hopper addon.

Afaik it does /who every so often and just spams whisper fishing for invites

Apparently they’ve also blocked the original census addon in retail now, too.

yep confirmed, Census Plus is also blocked in retail

There were some pop comparing threads lately. Blizz maybe didn’t like that.

They were find with them until now … we had all sorts of population threads when they were talking about merging realms etc … censusplus was mentioned many times in those and they didn’t seem to mind. The census’s themselves don’t do any harm, as far as I’m aware - they’re not really a highly accurate method of realm population because they rely on addons rather than actual data gathering options that blizzard have - I really can’t see why they’ve been fine with them since Vanilla, but suddenly they’re not fine … that’s a long time to be aware and okay with an addon, and then make an abrupt U turn.

I think because there are 2 WOWs now and the community is still divided. Some hard data (even if incomplete) would add a lot of fuel into that division. And as a bonus it’s always better to keep the community in the dark and it to have to rely only on Blizz’s word.

Honestly, I don’t think it’s any more divided than it has been in the past. There’s always some that prefer to play one way, some that prefer to play another. And a small proportion of each of those are adamant theirs is the only valid way. However, from what I’ve seen only within a short while … Classic has had the consequence not only of drawing people to Classic, but also some back to retail as well. And I really can’t see that anyone, least of all Blizzard, can view that, and evidence of that, as anything other than a good thing.

Yep, think you are right there @Nikaas,

There seem to be some serious divisions going on in the Classic v Retail crowd and also there are concerns about Server Pops in Classic.
