Yesterday I got notified that I was being given a chat suspension and a forced name change for my pet lava turtle “Terrorpene”. Given that this is literally the name of the rare NPC I tamed to get the pet, I assumed its just a false flag or something so I went to contest it. To my surprise I was just told that an actual human looked over my appeal and decided that the action was justified and it will not be overturned because my pet name goes against the TOS and is not appropriate. Completely refusing to elaborate on the fact that it’s quite literally the exact same name for the npc in front of the Firelands raid, which I tamed way back in cataclysm. Now the ticket is considered closed and there’s no other channel for me to address this, hence Im writing this post. I don’t understand how this is even a question, they’re allowed to have an npc named Terrorpene but I’m not allowed to used the exact same name for the same npc as a pet? Make it make sense.
End of the day, it is what it is. But it’s ridiculous that my pet name was considered a violation of Blizzard’s naming policy, when it’s literally Blizzard themselves that came up with the name. I’m just baffled by the logic here. the GM that replied to my ticket refused to elaborate on any of that, so maybe someone here can explain. Because why is the name still used in the game if Blizzard considers it as going against their naming policies? What policies would that be exactly? I couldn’t find any specifics that would prohibit me using the name.
This is the rare mob that I tamed and just used the same name afterwards:
