This issue had never been fixed since late Legion and it’s Retail game version not some trash classic … Shows how you care about quality of game …
You realize you can adjust the size of the chat window if you want to? That way it can fit more lines.

Grelier is correct, you can adjust the size of the window in-game.
Right click on the “General” Tab and select “Unlock Window”.
Now you will see an icon at the bottom right of the Chat window, below where the down arrow is in your image. Use this to resize the chat window.
