Consider placing your character into difficult circumstances more often

Or alternatively every poor sod is thrown under the bus to fit a fictional made up narrative in an already fictional world, whilst alts of the offending party dash in to throw up their mighty verbal shield to once more deflect consequences and criticism

I’ve said it before, and I say it again; Being normal and emotional must literally be one of the most annoying things ever. :frowning:

I do hope you’re not accusing me of that? I do have alts, yes, but I am certainly not Brigante. Weird reach, there…

I posit to you that a. a guy who was in that group for 6 months + and b. the second in command for years (?) may have greater insight into the culture / problems than you might as a very junior member

Tbh at least you admit that your input here is less than worthless.

How’s it going in there? i left on the grounds of extreme feminist beliefs and also the fact the entire guild was simply centred around three people.

Imagine saying “How are you dude?” And being labeled a sexist oppressive woman hating pig.

Very cult like indeed.

Wow, seriously?

Screw that, guy.

I now void them, I don’t roleplay with Narrative Gods, myself and a few formers have chosen this approach.

That’s why I can only smile when I read the posts re. powergaming or whatever - I would have thought rewriting the actions, motivations and outcomes of character you don’t control (against the express wishes of those who play them) is pretty much the ultimate example of that

This extends beyond just guildies - I am sure some of the Alliance attendees of The Harrowing of the Three Corners having their character’s actions rewritten as being awestruck / bumbling foil to the HEROIC and 100% BASED main character (who had also just killed 800 Alliance soldiers with a mana bomb in off-screen story - an army that dwarfed the scale of the campaign and the Alliance attendance. In essence, the entire campaign became a minor skirmish / sideshow to one great man’s heroism and august power)

Just let people play how they want. Not hard. Their game time, their fun.

So long as they’re open to ridicule, that’s fine in my books!

My life is good grand to do such things!

Honestly I suffer from the opposite of this, I think I have too much tension.

First of all, really guys?

Second of all, maybe the Brigante v. PCU debate could move to another thread, rather than derailing this one?

Thirdly, on-topic:
While I can agree that other people RPing happy and problemfree may seem boring to you, they’re not here to provide background for you. Also, just because a character seem troublefree in the moment you pass them, doesn’t mean that they are - they could be pretending, their problems could need a deeper interaction than just a passing conversation in Old Town or they could have just endured a trouble-based storyline and are now in a momentary downtime.
And even if they aren’t any of those things, chosing to RP your character socialising does not make you

And even if people need this game to socialise because of real-life psychological or physical issues do you really need to make yourself a judge on it and call them no-lifers?

Regardless, not every RP’ers tale need to be some grand tale of lament and constant challenge. As a writer surely you want characters to be different not only from eachother but have different nuances and react differently to different situations all based on their different backstories and experiences.

As much as I light heartedly ridicule the ‘second life’ RP style, I have to agree with Chatty on this one. A lot of people literally don’t fit in anywhere else. This form of social RP may not be overly enticing for someone that’s been there/done that or prefers writing an actual narrative but at the end of the day, it might be a coping mechanism for them, and they’re welcome to it.

It might look silly to people that don’t understand it, but hey. You learn something new every day.

The ironic thing is by creating this thread the OP has in fact put his character in a difficult circumstance.

What a way to practise what you preach, respect.

So having finally read through all of this after getting off work:

OP you can’t share a name with the popeyes destroyer Daniel Cormier =(

It’s also sad to Brigante being roasted, much like poor Anakin

That’s about it

(Someone can make a better reference I’m sure)
