Dead servers MEGATHREAD - Ghostlands/Dragonblights plea to Blizzard

I’m not holding my breath

“one final dig. Taliesin & Evitel, specifically Taliesin, i am very disappointed that you flat out ignored me on your stream when i tried to get your help to bring a “big name” to our cause.”

Did you actually think people who have the hand in the honey jar will rock the boat?
Bruh…idk those two people, but as much as I was able to gather they advanced somewhat in Blizzard hierarchy which means they tow the company line.

I told you who to badger. Small fry line towers wasn’t it. And I don’t mean it in a disrespectful way towards the two streamers, this is just how things are.

They didn’t say they couldn’t do it, despite all the rumours we’ve had an never getting any further connections. So I take it that it is possible!!!

While it doesn’t solve all the problems, we may notice that mythic raiding is now x-realm, thus allowing hardcore raiding communities to rise where guilds used to be.

Which doesn’t change the fact that…

  • Ghostlands-DB feels empty an awful lot of the time.
  • When there are people around, they are all from other servers and you can rely not not seeing them enough to remember them.
  • A lot of players are migrating their mains to, or even rerolling on, bigger servers like Silvermoon or AD, even knowing that there will sometimes be queues and the outside world can get laggy.
  • There is no way to share money or resources between alts on different realms (if not linked).
  • Which may lead to alts on lower pop servers withering and dying because players can’t make use of them for their overall progress.

It is a sad state of affairs. Communities and x-realm mythic help, but the best option is to just abandon realms as anything except a -surname. Allow all functions to be x-realm, including guilds and the AH. Yes, some servers will find their market gets more expensive; others will find theirs gets cheaper. But at least everyone will be equal regardless of whether the server they chose 10 years ago is still popular today.

you are right, T&E do seem to have moved up the blizz hierarchy this year, though it was towards the beginning of the year, or maybe even the end of last year that i tried to contact him/them. i remember specifically because it was in season 1 pvp when he was so happy with getting the hippo mount i congratulated him about it.

i did also try to go down the twitter route as you suggested, but i dont have a twitter account, and when i tried to create one, it wanted a mobile number “to enhance my experience”. i will not be giving them my mobile number, so that avenue was shut to me.

its ok though, i’ve given up on this and am playing GW2 instead and having lots of fun. im just disappointed that the game i loved and spent 13 years playing is in the state it is now, and that my friends and people on my realm have to put up with the state of things as they are.

omg you need help. you are doing some Olympic worthy mental gymnastics to come up with the tripe you’re spewing.

no really, you need help.

Many realm are walking corpses of their former glory and most populated servers get even more popular and that make them offline on every release of new expansion when no-core players go try new xpac.
Other realms has problem to maintain its population and merging servers isn´t helping.

When we got free transfer last time? In MoP?
When we (EU) got any attention on this matter? I don´t even remember.

RIP

just trying to be a thorn in blizzards side. what do players have to do to get REAL issues addressed? blizzards reply at blizz-con was basically a F*** you to players.

like i’ve always said, people are free to spend their own money as they see fit, but there are around a million EU players. is it REALLY only a few hundred players who can see that this is a REAL issue?

are the rest so blind to blizzards motives and the way they are being treated?

if SO many players are on the full/high pop servers to think “there is no issue” then why are blizz keeping the other 200~ servers open and making it rubbish for the few players left there. if there are so few players REALLY being effected by this, why not just shut those 200~ servers and force the players to lose their names by force moving the toons to the remaining servers.

the reason, is that there are LOTS of players on low pop servers, tens of thousands. hundreds even.

and you dont care about them. you just want their money from server/faction change.

and about the new guild finder. i said from the moment i started this project a year ago and saw how bad the guild finder then was, the new one is, imo, no different. just a flashy new ui on a stale turd. i am so glad that i did this project last year cause at that time, there were 1000 guilds listed.

now, there are TWELVE! of which, only 3 are raiding, and 5 have less than 68 toons, which probably actually means only about 10-15 people.

the ui is rubbish. i dont see why you even bothered to pay anyone to change it cause it is probably actually WORSE than before. you still cant see how many guilds are listed, you can actually see one LESS guild per page and there is NO more info now than there was then. why did you even bother to change it?

it just feels like the current blizzard MO. making unneeded changes, that dont actually DO anything, and if anything, leaves things WORSE than they were before.

every action you take, its like you care less and less about the players.

my 30 day sub runs out again in a few days. i didn’t even play for the last 20 odd days, apart from the first day for 2 hours to do the 15th anniversary raids. and while a little fun for a few seconds, the fact of the way they were presented (you dont even kill them) just felt so lackluster :frowning:

so, yeah, it would be nice for other players to keep this thread going, to keep it clear in blizzards face that they dont care about players by ignoring this, but at this point i have lost ALL confidence in blizzard. i just cant get my head around how so many people are still able to enjoy the game in both its current state, and with how they are being treated. especially if they are players who started playing anytime between 2004 and 2016 (legion release). i can understand new players liking this, cause they dont know better and is what they’re used to from other games (lootboxes) but older players, if you’re still playing for anything beyond nostalgia/addiction/friends, you just baffle me.

so, yeah, feel free to keep things going.

  • it is the 57th most viewed thread, of which it is the NINTH most viewed thread that it is still open.
  • it is the 113th largest thread on forums, of which it is the 25th largest that is still open.
  • having been started in May 2019, it is maybe one of the oldest posts that is this big, both views and posts, that is still active.

again, the large disparity between views and posts is very disappointing especially considering MANY of the larger threads are “sudden outrage” threads like “i’m leaving”, no flying, new allied race wishes or wow’s dead, where most of the posts are usually arguments between the same people rather than many people giving their point of view which create a very long post that in reality should have been a fraction of the size.

so, yeah, it would be nice to keep this open, and to even ram it to the top, so to that end, i ask the 6.5 thousand people that view this, and all the others that view this in the future to post, and not remain silent.

if you think this is an issue, add your voice to the crowd.

if you dont think this is an issue, then state your reasoning, cause i and many others think you are wrong, and cant imagine why you think it is not an issue.

Yes - this is a problem! My realm is pretty dead - only about 9 guilds listed in the guild finder and mine is one of the largest. We can’t even get 10 people together to raid regularly.

Every thread where new players ask for advice, they’re told to go and join one of the big realms. The situation is only going to get worse.

I’m really hoping that Blizzard were serious about looking into low-population realms and that they do something about it soon. If not… I can’t even say how disappointed I’d be. I’m pinning a lot of hopes on staying with my guild and actually being able to raid on Blizzard fulfilling this promise.

I started playing in Ghostlands a little after the release of TbC. Stoped mid WotLK. Played a litle at start of Cata and Mop. Returned for BfA. Although i don’t raid and the realm is merged my impression is that it is really a ghostland. i support your cause.

Also wanted to add that the economy is suffering a lot. Just yesterday I wanted to stock up some drums for m+, they are going for 3x than the EU average (source wowunction com). I already farm herbs and ores myself for this reason, but I can’t just keep making farming alts.

This brings me to a second topic: Farming. While our economy and AH is suffering we still have to compete for ore/herb nodes in the open world. It’s just not fun when some multi boxer flies in with his 10 char train and insta depletes the node.

Selling raid BoEs is hard aswell. There is no demand anymore.

AH needs to be fixed in some way. Recently i’ve noticed ah not having stuff i need for m+ or just have 2-3 stacks heavily overpriced. Never experienced this before. Dead realms havent been a big issue for me since i dont raid mythic and can do m+ cross-realm, but if i cant get what i need from the ah its really starting to affect the more casual player aswell. They need to fix this!

Trying to buy anything more rare and specialised is also a huge problem. If I want to buy a transmog item (there’s a mail chest that drops from island expedition that I want for my hunter), then there’s almost no chance of it ever being on my realm’s AH.

I was hoping that the revamps to the AH would be a pathway to having a single connected AH across all EU realms, but that’s probably wishful thinking…

There is one plus in all this… You have no competition on black market!

I actually had to google bmah a couple of months ago since i didnt know what it was :flushed: maybe i should try using it aswell :joy:

People often use low pop RP servers for that purpose too.

because theres only 4-5 items on bmah i always thought it would be shared with other servers. is bmah sever specific then?

either way i wouldnt say its much of a plus as like punyelf says, lots of players use dead servers with the mindset you just said.

i personally saw a white wooly rhino mount on it like a year ago that ended going for 7-7.5M. ok fine, thats not the 10M cap, but still means most indigenous players of a low pop server will get priced out by people from high pop. just look at our AQ gate opening as i understand it. some gnome mage just server changed to us, got the mount/title and left server again soon after.

also, the only thing a low server had going for it was less competition for rare mobs, but with sharding/x-realm, even that has been taken away. however i would of trade such a thing to see life around me.

This has been my experience of the AH on Ghostlands-DB. If you step into BoE epics, it feels like they are all being sold by a handful of players; there will be 6 identical items with the same price by the same seller. The ability to game the AH via mods is pretty shocking to start with, but on small servers it’s just crazy. Within a few hours of listing an item myself, the other 6 will all be 1g cheaper than I priced. Only think I can come up with is such a savage undercut that one of the rich bois buys it to re-list. Shame those items will never get bought and used, but at least I have some money.

OTOH, that money does me little good because of the extortionate prices of consumables on this AH. Flasks, potions, food, are all 4-5x more expensive than on Argent Dawn, and yet there will be very few auctions happening.

I know Blizz have talked about AH changes, but what we really seem to need is a full all-realms system, with price caps for all items.

I couldn’t help it I was told to do it .
