Dead servers MEGATHREAD - Ghostlands/Dragonblights plea to Blizzard

They really need to address it sooner than Shadowlands (falling on deaf ears i know) because my guild on Aggramar/Hellscream have created recruitment posts on 8 different platforms, chat spamming and w/ random guildless folk for months now, maybe had 1 or 2 people in this time… its fairly dire.

Vintoleth needs to change the title of this thread into something like:" Hype! My best day in wow ever, what’s yours?! :heart_eyes_cat: " to lure them in me thinks.

But they don’t though.

People keep playing and pay for transfers, so why do anything when you can earn more from that, than from the few people who would leave? That’s what I meant.

They will only do something if people would stop paying for transfers (and I really hope they would, cuz I’m stuck on a dead server and I’m not gonna pay for transfers).

yep that is the truth

Guild recruitment is a real issue for low pop realms. I’ve found the new guild finder has been helpful for my guild, but you can’t recruit people who aren’t there. And even if you do get people through the door, there’s no guarantee that they’ll actually be active and not just there for the guild perks. It sucks, especially when you need people to do group content. You need 10 people minimum to do a raid and on a low pop server it’s difficult to even scrape 10 people together (my guild is going to have to cancel one of our raid days this week due to this very problem).

My personal wish is that they’ll connect both low and high population realms, while also considering faction balance. So, for example, they could connect a bunch of low pop Alliance-dominated realms with Draenor to address both low population and faction balance. We all want more people to play with and trade with, and the current cross-realm stuffisn’t sufficient to do that.

I don’t mean this as a permanent solution or a real solution at all… but wouldn’t it be easier to work together with other guilds that are in a bind. We used to do that in Vanilla and TBC or rely on friends in other guilds to sometimes fill the gaps.

I feel with communities this has been made easier but I haven’t seen many guilds use the feature like that.

Again though, this is not THE solition. Blizzard should do what they need to do instead of squeezing every penny out of their customers for situations they didn’t manage.

I gave up a while ago. Some of my friends and me moved to Draenor and some are left on the dead Darkspear-Saurfang-Terokkar. We actually got a lot of new ppl from saurfang for this patch since everything is new and we are the only raiding horde guild on that server.

Now we can fill in the holes from draenor. Literally got 3 new ppl within a day. This would never happen on my old realm.

We currently raid together and chat through a community. I dont trust blizzard to solve this issue any more. I waited many expansions and it only got worse.

As a player on The Sha’tar / Moonglade / Steam Wheedle cartel group. We were promised over 3 years ago to be connected to Darkmoon faire and Earthen ring EU . So EU Eng Realms would have 2 big RP realms. We are left still waiting meanwhile people are leaving to an over bloated Argent Dawn.

I have appealed on forums before. And to Roleplayers , just stick an alt in our realm. There are people , there are pvpers , there are raiders and Role players. But without an injection of new blood more and more people were bleed out to AD.

they should just drop the guild thingy and instead promote communities without sever restrictions

I have one large issue with how things are right now.

Back in the days, when you were playing on empty servers, you’ve had up and downsides. Rare mobs? Much easier to find. Farmspots? Almost always empty. Questnpcs alive for 24 hours 7 days a day, and so on.

Very easy serverfirst achievements (Why were they removed in the first place?)

Those were the upsides. I’m sure I’ve forgot some.

The downsides are obviously less guilds, less active players, more expensive auction house and similar.

Now, with the introduction of warmode and sharding, you end up removing several of the upsides of playing on less populated servers. You sit on the same shard as the people from the largest servers in your region, so all the upsides of playing on empty servers have been removed, while the downsides stayed.

What we need is either sharding to get removed, which I doubt is going to happen, or we need server merges, quickly.

Ion stated several times that server merges are coming, but honestly, that person says whatever he thinks is best to say, not what he thinks is the truth, so whether or not they’re actually coming is questionable at best.

Let’s wait for shadowlands and hope that all low / medium pop servers get huge merges? It’d help a fair bit.

Well they have been rather quiet about it, who knows, perhaps they will take this final, logical step of region wide communities supported by sharding to manage populations.

But I think it is more likely they will do it in the summer time and they will just hook up as many dead clusters together to provide minimally viable populations.
To be honest I think they should hook dead clusters up to strong living ones. It’s good for dead clusters in that they will have a guaranteed player base, and it’s good for the strong ones in that the dead clusters will allow them to make alts or even mains with desired names (I imagine getting the name you want on certain servers right now is next to impossible).

I think this is the mostly likely option. I’d definitely prefer to be grouped with larger servers as I feel that grouping dead servers is just going to push this problem down the road for a while. Even so, anything would be better than nothing!

They removed them because they felt it encouraged people to rush through the content. It hasn’t deterred people from levelling fast though. Not everyone cares for quests, lore, storylines etc.

I see little to no reason to keep playing if I can’t raid in a decent sized guild group. Pugging I just not for me.
I doubt I’ll buy Shadowlands if this situation continues.

/waves, shame your Horde, we’ve posted all over even to other realms to make numbers up to cross realm raid and get AOTC

Any news on how blizzard plans to fix this issue?

I fullly support this thread

So far, nothing.

I have a (very small) hope, they will do something before Shadowlands goes live.

This is BS that Blizzard refuses to fix this. We can only find 10 people to mythic raid with, please stop forcing us to pay for server transfer. On the verge of quitting.
