[Death Knight RP Community] The Scourgeborne

Hi there

The Scourgeborne is a cross-faction roleplay community open to all Death Knights - whether they hail from the Ebon Blade, Horde, Alliance, Scourge, or otherwise. Both new and seasoned roleplayers are welcome, and we are always happy to help newcomers with roleplay guidance or lore questions.

The community operates strictly Out Of Character and is therefore not really a guild. A guild does exist purely to provide a guild tag for those who want one, and you are welcome to reach out if your Death Knight needs an in-game home.

However, members are more than welcome to form their own sub-communities within the Scourgeborne: for example, groups focused on Scourge-aligned Death Knights or other thematic concepts. These player-driven circles can organize their own roleplay while still being part of the broader community.

Because the Scourgeborne is not structured as a guild, you are free to remain in (or join) any guild you choose while still attending Scourgeborne events. Nor does any knight hold authority over another - aside from whatever claims characters may make in roleplay, which anyone is free to do, but nothing the Scourgeborne enforces. Within this community, all members are simply considered knights.

Join our community Discord - the Scourgeborne - if you’re looking for a chance to meet new people and enjoy lore discussions, banter, and more! Community events and storylines will be announced through our Discord server, here in our forum thread, or in the Argent Archives.

I cannot stress enough what a great community this is!

In the early part of November I shall be hosting a three part event set in the Borean Tundra around curbing the ambitions of a rogue Death Knight seeking to become a Warlord of the Scourge. It shall be open to ALL DKs and members of the Community.

Always great to see more motion amongst the dead on the server! Even if they’re heavily comprised of traitors who forget who their true King is…

Best of luck with the community, hope to see you all around!

We have two upcoming storylines. One hosted by Modredus (Vesparin), followed by one hosted by myself.

In November, Modredus will be hosting a three part event set around taking down a would be Warlord of the Scourge, the self Proclaimed Imperator Trom’Arman! The event shall consist of a preparation, a siege and a final showdown.

Participants: The Ebon Blade.

More details to come soon!

And my storyline:

We will be journeying to Zul’Drak and the Grizzly Hills where we will find ourselves face to face with an ancient Dark Rider and his shadowy entourage, a lost Horse Loa and a powerful Drakkari necromancer posing as a Scourge warlord.

Participants: The Ebon Blade.

More details to come soon!

Both of these are public storylines and any Ebon Knights - no matter the faction - are welcome to sign up and join once we have some dates ready (soon!)

Children of the Scourge! Modredus calls forth to all brave Death Knights to aid him in defeating a new threat, a want-to-be Scourge Warlord within the Borean Tundra. The first event is tomorrow Monday 17th, followed by two more on Friday 21st, and Sunday 23rd.

We are gathering from 1900 at D.E.T.H.A., with the event beginning at 1930 in Borean Tundra for a scouting mission.

With grim and ruthless efficiency, the adventuring death knights of yesterday, severed the brittle threads of life of the first wave of enemies, and claimed a desolate tower opposing the dread fort of the foolish Warlord. Let the siege begin.

One amongst the posse of the wandering Blades adopted an abomination of horrid proportions, much to the amazement and delight of our DM who had intended it to be the first event’s end boss. Let it be known, that even the death knights can be good at diplomacy, at the very least accidentally.

These events were great. Thank you very much for hosting!

Not only did we lay siege to a Scourge fortress and breach its walls - we also invaded a newly-reactivated necropolis in the skies over Northrend, and scarcely managed to avert true death as it came crashing down onto the Frozen Wastes.

Trom’Arman was slain, and the cry for vengeance answered.

Now, a second storyline beckons:

Cabal’lombra, the Thousand Hooves – horse loa of Zul’Drak – watched helplessly as her fellow gods were betrayed and sacrificed by those who once worshipped them. One final bit to claim their sacred mojo as the armies of the dead closed in around them. Refusing to share their fate, she vanished into the Realm of Shadows – seeking refuge from the grasp of both troll and undead.

Though her power and number of followers could barely compare to her mightier brethren, the Drakkari hungered for her mojo all the same. In their fear, desperation and cruelty, they began capturing her children – the wild horses of the Grizzly Hills – and sacrificed them upon her ancient shrines, believing their blood and agony might lure her back from the land of the dead. The betrayal cut deeper when Cabal’lombra realized it was her own beloved prophet who guided these atrocities.

Their blasphemy earned them nothing but wrath. Cabal’lombra did not return. Her will remained unbroken, and the spirits of her forsaken foals drifted into the Veil to join her.

But within that realm of darkness, the shadows changed them. Cabal’lombra’s once-glorious form has withered, her pale mane now swirls like smoke in still air, and her eight legs have become spectral, almost invisible, merging with the gloom itself. The majestic loa mantle that crowned her head has long since been discarded, and the golden runes that once etched her hide have faded to near nothingness. Even her children have been twisted by the shadows, driven to madness by the realm’s decay and the torment of its shadowy denizens.

In her self-imposed exile, years have passed, yet dark minds still conspire to seize the power of the lost loa. And soon, they will seek to breach the darkness itself and hunt the god down…

Introducing: The Dark Riders and the Horse Loa.

Intended Participants: Knights of the Ebon Blade.

Dates will come galloping (sry) soon.

(I’ve no idea why I can’t post on Soulruin, but anyway…)

The Dark Riders and the Horse Loa

Part 1: The Black Mojo

Blood stains the battlements of the Argent Stand, running in frozen streams across the once-proud Drakkari stonework. The tattered banners of the Argent Crusade snap weakly in the wind, their holy radiance smothered beneath soot, frost, and blood. Hollow-eyed soldiers – even cooks and blacksmiths among them - fight shoulder to shoulder, praying for a moment’s respite as Scourged ice trolls let out guttural war-cries warped by necromancy and undead bats shriek like tearing metal through the swirling snow. But the dead grant no mercy, and the siege continues.

The Scourge host of Warlord Drak’tiji, the Black Mojo - a Drakkari necromancer of great power - press relentlessly against the crusaders. Seemingly endless ranks of Scourged ice trolls and worse spill from the jaws of one of Zul’Drak’s crumbling amphitheaters, granting the champions of the Light neither rest nor reprieve. But aid is coming - from those who require neither. The Death Knight Haile Soulruin has called upon his fellow Knights of the Ebon Blade to join him at the Argent Stand. Together, they mean to infiltrate the heart of the Scourge army and, if they cannot yet reach Drak’tiji with their runeblades, seize the knowledge that will grant them the chance.

Date: Sunday, 7 December.
Where: The Argent Stand, Zul’Drak.

Reminder that these events are open to any Ebon Knight who wishes to attend. Roleplay experience is of no demand, and no matter the faction of your Death Knight, you will be able to join our raid group!

As the storyline’s name may indicate, there will be ample, great opportunities to show off your Deathchargers :horse: - so don’t you hesitate to attend!

Suffer Well.

This goes down tonight - starting at 19:30! We meet at the Argent Stand.

Reminder that this event is open to all Ebon Knights - inside and outside the Scourgeborne (with a limit of 10 people). Simply show up if you feel like it. So far 6-7 people have shown interest!

The Ebon Blade infiltrated the Scourge host of Warlord Drak’tiji, the Black Mojo, masking themselves as necromancers, cultists, and undead minions. Their disguises allowed them to slip unnoticed through the Scourge-packed amphitheater and draw close to their target.

Before they struck, they overheard a meeting between Drak’tiji and three Death Knights who did not appear to be part of the Ebon Blade. The warlord presented them with an undead troll referred to only as the prophet. The knights accepted the corpse and departed, followed discreetly by a wraith that Knight Enrah sent to track them. With luck, it would lead to answers.

Drak’tiji, however, remained surrounded by loyal minions. To pry him from his guard, the infiltrators created small disturbances around the amphitheater: interrupting cult rituals, shoving a ghoul from the upper terrace, and subtly distracting his minions. The confusion gave them the opportunity they needed to ambush the warlord on his balcony. His forces responded quickly, but not before the Ebon Blade delivered fatal wounds to the still-living Drakkari.

The fight was brutal but relatively brief. Knight Tarkarar finally overpowered Drak’tiji, and the Ebon Blade dragged the dying warlord through a Death Gate, escaping the coliseum before the full might of the Scourge host could descend upon them.

They tried to capture his soul so that they could question him, hoping to learn more about the three knights and the so-called prophet. But with his Scourge host closing in and his strength failing, Drak’tiji died from his wounds before he could speak. From a distance, the knights watched his army collapse into disorganized chaos. For the time being, the Scourge will no longer besiege the Argent Stand as a unified force.

With the warlord dead, the Ebon Blade now turns its attention to the three mysterious knights. Are they allies? Defectors? Scourge remnants? Something else entirely? And what possible use could they have with an undead Drakkari prophet?

If Enrah’s wraith succeeds, they won’t have to wait much longer for answers.

Tonight, not 6 nor 7 Death Knights attended - but an impressive number of 10 did!

Tonight death will ride a pale horse. Many a pale horse, by the sounds of it. And at least one pale turtle.

Traitors. Turncoats.

That is what the Ebon Blade discovered the Death Knights from the amphitheater to be after following them into the Realm of Shadows. The knights are former members of the Ebon Blade, now initiates of the Scourge, delivering a bound Drakkari prophet to Lord-Rider Darkhollow the Ancient - a former ally of Acherus.

Along the banks of a vein of Gorgoa, the River of Souls - Darkhollow and his Dark Riders slaughtered horse spirits, each death causing a nearby Drakkari shrine to flare, as if they were somehow connected to it. One spirit was raised as a Deathcharger, fulfilling Darkhollow’s apparent promise to an enigmatic Grandmaster leading an order of Scourge Death Knights. More spirits were slain than needed, revealing the true purpose: bait.

A colossal, eight-legged horse spirit – seemingly a matron of the lesser spirits, possibly a loa - emerged. Using the prophet’s chant and a second artifact shaped like a horseshoe, Darkhollow attempted to bind the deity. The Ebon Blade intervened, breaking the spell and allowing the spirit to escape.

Tormentors attacked both sides. Darkhollow redirected them against the Ebon Blade, reclaimed the prophet, and escaped, declaring the god still his quarry. The Ebon Blade barely managed to escape the Realm of Shadows before they could free their trapped knights: Hachiun of the Decaying Fist and Knight Enrah.

The Dark Riders must be stopped before the deity is bound and the Scourge further empowered. To that end, the Ebon Blade will scour the land for additional shrines, decipher the amphitheater’s mosaics, scry for the Dark Riders’ movements, and wrest knowledge from both the living and the undead Drakkari to anticipate their next strike.

The stage is set. The Ebon Blade now hunts the god-hunters: Lord-Rider Darkhollow the Ancient, his Dark Riders, Scourge Knights, and shadehounds - traitors all.

Part 3: A Trial by Gods - takes place this Saturday 20. December, 19:30 server time!

As with all of these events, this gathering is open to any Knight of the Ebon Blade -whether within the community or outside - who wishes to take part.

After the Death Knights of Acherus set out in search of information on the horse deity, the Dark Riders, and the Drakkari shrines, an Ebon Knight has succeeded in prying knowledge from a scourged ice troll. The troll revealed the location of another shrine to the same horse deity, hidden within the Grizzly Hills - the last such shrine having been largely destroyed.

The knight severed the troll’s head and delivered it to Soulruin, that it might give the Ebon Blade proper directions. Now, Soulruin summons his brethren to the Grizzly Hills, so they may approach the shrine together, should the Lord-Rider and his Dark Hunt be waiting for them there.

Part 3: A Trial by Gods happens tonight at 19:30 server time! We meet in the Grizzly Hills.

After this event - only two more remain!

Edit: We’re moving this event to Monday, 22. December - 2 days from now - as it seems like more people will be available to attend that day. Apologies for any inconveniences this may cause!

Christmas is almost upon us, and I’m not sure if I will find time in the coming days to write a summary of yesterday’s event. But it was a blast!

Event 4 takes place this coming Saturday! With the finale happening on Monday.

Until then, Merry Christmas to all!

Ebon Blade event tonight!

Last time, the Ebon Blade managed to locate another shrine to the horse deity. And while they found no trace of the deity in question nor the Dark Riders, they did encounter a Zandalari named Ezzali.

He spoke of the old horse loa of the Drakkari - Cabal’lombra, the Thousand Hooves - and of her children, the horses of Grizzly Hills. Long ago, these horses were sacrificed at shrines such as this to lure the loa from the Shadow Realm, where she had fled when the ice trolls began slaughtering their own gods.

Ezzali then told the Death Knights of a largely forgotten construct of stone known as the Avatar. Legend held that any who defeated it could commune with a loa of their choosing.

And so the Ebon Blade fought their way past the undead remains of long-dead challengers to face the Avatar itself. The construct lashed out with massive stone limbs, seeking to crush them, while calling forth spectral manifestations of each loa-animal to assail its foes.

In time, the Death Knights prevailed - and through the Avatar, they heard the voice of Cabal’lombra herself, even as she was being hunted by Lord-Rider Darkhollow in the Realm of Shadows.
Though wary of them - recognizing that their kind also slay and bind her children as Deathchargers - she acknowledged that the Ebon Blade had saved her once from the Dark Riders when they interrupted the prophet’s chanting. She agreed to meet them at her temple, where her power was strongest, so that together they might confront and defeat the Scourge.

However, the loa must have assumed the Death Knight knows the location of her temple. They do not. And so, once more, the Ebon Blade venture out into the ruins of the Drakkari empire in search of answers. Even if they must interrogate the souls of a thousand dead trolls, they intend to find that temple…

Darkhollow must fall!

Days later, Haile Soulruin calls his fellow knights to his side, certain that a captured Scourge troll holds the key to locating the temple of the horse loa.

Part 4: The Once-Favored begins at 19:30 server time!
