I was kicked from a dungeon today while levelling my alt.
There was no conflict and in fact no communication at all. Just a quiet kick after the second boss.
I am new to the class and my damage has not been the highest, but I clearly wasn’t afk.
I used to do the dungeon in +11 and know mechanics enough not to wipe the group on normal difficulty.
When you get kicked it is upsetting enough that you wasted time looking for a group and didn’t get any reward.
On top of that you receive a deserter debuff which effectively paralyzes your character from playing (if doing dungeons is your preferred way to play this game).
After asking the people that were in my group why I got kicked I was ignored. I asked politely.
I know that you can not separate toxicity from gaming communities, but the fact that the game punishes you because someone decided to be toxic is infuriating. And you dont even get to know the reason.
And I am sure that this happens way more often to newer players. Most of them objectively do not know how to play this game well. They are just not invested enough to go and speak up about this this forum.
So I propose a few solutions:
1 - Let people see why the vote to kick went off. Its fair.
2 - Stop applying deserter debuff when people get kicked from levelling content. This content is not competitive, and there is absolutely no reason to punish people for not being good at their class.
I don’t think 1 would work, usually it’s “QW#!@$!” or something similar.
As for 2, I would propose it to be vastly reduced and ticking upwards instead to penalise repeat kicks, but those who wouldn’t get kicked often wouldn’t get a debuff as a start but rather a hidden warning with “next one is a small time penalty” or something.
FIRST: That is not toxic behaviour. Dont abuse the word.
SECOND: do you know WHY the deserter system exists in the first place?
It exists because people left the dungeons. With out saying anything or insulting anyone.
The community, instead if ignoring this and simply finding a replacement asked blizzard to punish those “bad” people.
And Blizzard obliged.
In the end. All this just punishes innocent people and removes QoL from their experience. Those “bad guys” are still there. Kicking you out. Nothing changed.
So. You have to thank the community for their whining… And their moronic blind insistence that “leavers” are somehow a problem and must be punished.
The best possible system would have been no system at all. Join and leave dungeons as you please.
I would like to add that this used to be the system and tanks/healers joined and left dungeons as they wanted, so dungeons kept stalling forever. Sometimes the same tank/healer would rejoin the same instance so they intentionally AFKed after telling us all to get out for a new instance lol.
That is how you want to see it. Because you think it should be this way you keep misunderstanding it should be that way.
As has been told to you previously, this is intentional. If it’s intentional, they refuse to change it. Then it is not a 'misunderstood from their side" at all, but rather a continuing misunderstanding from your side. Once again:
Proposals so far include but not limited to:
“Just remove it” The darkest times will come back again. Where players may need to wait hours before their dungeon can start/finish while prio roles can keep requeuing for their desires roles due protections removed.
“Reduced cooldowns stacking upwards” so that if you aren’t kicked often, it starts with a minor debuff.
“Reduced cooldowns, stacking downwards” so if you’re in a “good” party, then when they surprisepikachu kick you at the end the cooldown is lower.
“Warning before Debuff” - When you get removed from dungeon you get a Warning but allows you to requeue, if you get kicked again you get debuffed on subsequent leaves.
“Add reporting for kicking” - This is akin FF where they investigate if someone is really, really using votekick so often and gets reported for it that often as well. WoW used to do this.
If you have a proper suggestion, you may submit it through the ingame feedback box. If it’s a new or better suggestion I may also add it to my list above :>
