Do you guys actually like Implosion?

Reading up on the Tier Set Bonuses, Transmlgs etc. Looking for what I might like to play next season, I see the 4 set causing automatic mini implosions when Imps run out, but it has me wonder.

Me, I always disliked Implosion. I think it’s antithetical to the Demonology Class fantasy.

Do you guys actually like it? If so, why?

This is not a damage question.

It used to be a big aoe damage in dungeons for me, but in Midnight the rotation has been wider for when one can use Implosion, so now I don’t like it anymore.

i hate how Implosion now shares a talent spot with power siphon and has a cooldown

I like it, but it does not work well with the inability to see when imps expire. It could use some updates, including actually make it deal damage.

Would love for Blizzard to eliminate the need for addons to be used in combat rotation.

I would personally rework it as such:

  • to hell and back: every 2 imps that implode give you 1 big imp, regardless of whether it was in the same implosion (see new tier set interaction)
  • implosion: up to 6 imps will implode on your target, and new ones spawned will immediately implode for X more seconds (somewhere in the next 3~4 seconds imo)

You don’t need addons to play demo at all, anymore. Least of all for Implosion. You just press it on cooldown (Most of the time) whenever you have 6 imps out.

Alright, I did not know that. The last time I played with implosion (Legion?) I had to have a WeakAura showing me when the imps were about to expire, and that meant that was when they would do the most damage (at the end of their life).

Except that often enough between the time you decide to press, and actually pressing it or getting the GCD off, the imp count just dropped below 6. It’s really annoying.

Always been a huge fan of implosion, trying to get as many imps to explode was cool, especially when we had tier sets(shadowlands) or talents like imp gang boss (which could give you imps back on implosion). However in the TWW it felt kinda lackluster since we didn’t have anything working with implosion, worst of all it was sometimes better not to cast to cast other spells since imps (not implosion) were tuned so high, so sometimes in 3-4 targets you wouldn’t implode. In midnight I’m kinda torn on implosion, on one side implosion + Hell and Back is super cool getting beefed up imps but you just spam implosion most of the time without thinking and if they decide to nerf hell and back implosion would feel bad on it’s own.
