Ping in-game is still at 700.

Can be Your provider, and don’t use WiFi… And in last you have 289 ms in LOCAL LOL. it`s should be 0. Restart router and pc.

Here is some info…
Long time ago “they” start using virtual servers and since than, ALL realms lag. HOW?
Install Quartz addon and you will see real input lag and real response from server. If you are lucky you will have 60+ ms when you have ~20-30 ms in game. In game latency not measure latency to your realm, instead they measure latency to their first router where your realm is. You need to add internal latency between bunch of switches inside their hosting company + virtual server latency in software switches. In theory, virtual servers are ok BUT NOT for gaming. They are good when you host file servers, print server etc and that crap for some company.

I don`t want to write here what are the latency in “other” servers. It will be very shame for this big company.

For example, if you are PVP frost mage and cast frostbolt while standing just in range of frost nova in front of enemy and when FB finish cast you press frost nova and enemy should be frozen until FB reach him. This is NOT possible in last 7-8 years on Blizz servers because of latency (virtual server lag). and there are many more examples…
Another example in Shadowland is when you are outside on open map doing daily and you cast time is so laggy that you need 0.2 - 0.5 SECOND to start casting even if your latency in game is 20 ms “good” and again use Quartz addon to see how actually you LAG… 300-500ms and sometimes even more. Thanx to their cheap virtual servers solution.

They use one big server to host bunch of realms on one server so they can easy backup them and maintenance and in reality, just to save a little more money. For that big company that saving cost can be compared to something when i go to kiosk and buy a bubble gum. That`s why when one crash, they are almost all offline.

In Vanilla, if you remember sometime you can see only one realm down and all rest online. In that time they use single micro server for each realm. Google it and you will see how they look.

How is it my provider?

Why do you respond to a post if you don’t know what is posted?

I am sorry, but the 289 refers to the number of packets sent, and received, not his latency. The latency was an average of 0ms, which is exactly as it should be.

Oh you right, i didn’t read all.
Looks like link between your isp and blizz isp have lag. You can`t do anything here.
Try to use VPN, that will increase latency for 15-30 or more, depend of country you connected, use some very close to you. Most of time some ppl easy fix lag like this.

Just got 700+ ms in ping again:

Meanwhile, the game is lagging like mad.

No, there’s nothing there that explains 700+ ms in-game.

Try this one, it`s safe, some ppl using it for years. Maybe this can help if something mess with packets in your windows registry. And you can always revert to windows default.

Don’t forget to reboot PC, it`s a must.
