Me and a friend have been playing WoW for years.
We used to run a raiding guild back in the day.
Proper schedules, progress, sign-ups… the whole thing.
And yeah, parts of that were great.
But if we’re honest, it was also frustrating more often than not.
People not showing up.
Having to replace others last minute.
Logging in when you didn’t really feel like it, just because the raid depended on you.
At some point it stops feeling like a game.
Looking back now, that’s not what we miss.
Not the bosses.
Not the progression.
Not even the “we finally killed it” moments.
It was everything around it.
Logging in and seeing familiar names.
Random conversations in guild chat.
People helping each other with small stuff that didn’t really matter, but somehow did.
That feeling that you were part of something, even when you weren’t doing anything important.
These days, we play very differently.
Some nights we log in and run a key.
Some nights we don’t.
Sometimes it’s just checking professions, sorting bags, flying around for no real reason.
Spending way too much time on transmog.
Or putting effort into housing and making a place that actually feels like your own.
That’s when the game feels the best.
But it also gets quiet.
You log in, do your thing, log out.
Repeat.
After a while, something’s missing.
So instead of going back to what we had before, we wanted to try something else.
We’re starting a new guild called Driftwood.
Not a raiding guild.
Not a push guild.
Not a “we do everything” guild.
Just a place for people who play at their own pace but don’t want to feel alone doing it.
So yeah, we’re looking for solo players, housing people, crafters… whatever you enjoy.
The goal isn’t to force anything.
We just want to build a community that feels like home again.
Something that brings back that old feeling, without all the pressure.
The idea is simple.
You log in.
You do your thing.
If you feel like grouping up, you do.
If you don’t, that’s fine.
No one’s going to ask where you’ve been.
No one expects you to show up at a certain time.
You’re not falling behind, because there’s nothing to keep up with.
One thing we do want to build over time is a shared space feeling.
Nothing forced, just something that grows on its own.
People putting time into their houses.
Sharing what they’ve built.
Getting ideas from each other.
Maybe later we run a few small showcases.
Nothing big, nothing mandatory.
Just a reason to look around and see what others are doing.
A kind of guild neighbourhood.
And outside of that, just normal interaction again.
Someone asking “anyone up for a key?”
Someone else saying yes.
Or not.
Helping each other with a craft.
Talking a bit in chat.
Being there without having to perform.
We’re not trying to build the biggest guild.
We’re not trying to be efficient.
We’re just trying to make something that feels good to log into.
If you’ve ever been in a guild that turned into a job,
or if you’ve been playing solo and feel like something’s missing,
you’ll probably get what this is.
No commitment needed.
Join, see how it feels, and stay if it clicks.
Driftwood - go your own way, not alone.
