I’m killing elementals in Arathi. I have a shield and I’m using a shield block, my level is 40 and elemental level is 38, yet all his attacks (few dozens) are hitting me for full amount. I noticed that they attack with frost, but it’s still counted as a melee attack. They should be blocked IMO. Is it a bug or normal behaviour that I can’t block their melee attacks? I still can parry/dodge them. Can someone remember how it was in vanilla or at least in private servers.

I believe blocking only reduces physical damage. If it deals spell damage (is this what you mean by “attack with frost”?), even if it’s an attack you can dodge or can miss, it would not be mitigated.

Yes, their damage shows as Frost in my combat log. Makes sense, I guess, thanks.
I don’t believe it matters how the damage was received (melee range, spell etc) in regards to things like this, it was purely what type of damage it was
It is either physical or frost, I don’t believe it can be both - so if it does elemental damage of any type, shield block etc isn’t taken into account
