This store is getting out of hand now, we must band together and show just how hated this shop practice is within WoW, it has now come full circle and is providing gear sets and as such is now effectively a pay to win store, one may argue that it is only a cosmetic set, but that is rather the point, cosmetics are rewards from various content, their appearances added to your collection.
This in turn means that WoW is now providing high tier rewards via payment, the mounts and pets were bad enough but now with gear sets also, they can, in effect, take anything they want out of the game and demand a large sum of money from you if you wish to obtain it, as this now has it’s own tab, it means it will not be the last.
RIP progression rewards… R I P.
Ever since this shop has come into the game, the quality of not only the content but the rewards themselves have gotten worse and worse and worse and it is clear that it is taking some form of development time to waste on providing this store, resources that could have easily be used to better the game and create a better, lasting playerbase and community.
I worry that this may be the final nail that spirals WoW into a F2P game with no real interest in the player but only on how to obtain more of their money.
There was a time when WoW sustained itself through good, well thought out content and had no requirement for an ingame shop, those were the days when they had a huge playerbase even above 10 million, because people respected this way of doing things and enjoyed the game and how it was developed, now however, the playerbase is not even half of what it was which gives me more than enough right to state that the majority of players did not want this and this is why they are gone, you simply do not lose the majority of a playerbase when you are doing something right.
That was way too long and it’s way too late to read all that but yeah the shop didn’t bring anything good to the game , this is just the beginning of more and more things in the in game shop.
Its just a transmog, and its not a transmog from any tier sets or removed from game.
Its easy: You either buy it or dont. Let every individual do the thinking for themselves. This is communism set in practice, this “I dont like it so come on everyone and agree with me and show it”
No one is forced to buy that mog. Everyone will survive without it. Im actually considering buying it and mogging it if more threads like this comes.
Do you mean hyping it just like when people spammed threads about the anti-white racist writer while Blizzard kept deleting them, again and again, and still not having a single statement from them about this issue?
So what you’re saying is that the people who may specifically want this set should simply not buy it and then know that they will never be to get a set even close to it, it doesn’t even have to be this set but any other item they place within that shop, this inherently ruins the game for people, but you did not think about that did you?
I cannot tell you how much this annoys me.
This isn’t the spirit of WoW. This is SO demoralizing.
One of the HUGE reasons I play WoW is because the other MMO’s have cosmetics you can buy in store. It devalues the effort you can put into the game.
To make matters worse, this is NOT going to be a one off thing they do. Mark my words, loads of effort is going to go into these store cosmetics that they will just outshine any of the new gear asthetics.
I was hyped for Shadowlands, but if Blizzard continue to release more of these I’m going to quit for good. I just don’t agree with this, on an ethics point of view.
Out of curiosity, how many of those mounts are a mechanical dragon or a faerie dragon for example?
I have yet to see the faerie dragon in game normally as it was one of the warcraft 3 units that many people, particularly druids/night elves would have wanted to obtain naturally within the game.
which will then create a market for said type of item which in turn will then cause an odd decrease in the quality of sets obtained naturally within the game.
Enabling this sort of practice is bad. It’s unethical and manipulative to the consumer.
Just look at the mounts that have been released in game, and compare them to the mounts that have been released in store.
The difference between them is staggering. What you’re not realising is lots more effort is going into the store, and less in game.
It’s about allocating resources, there will be more of these in the future and you’ll bet there will be a huge difference between in game sets and store sets.
That it is funny to see how all the people who think it is not a big deal and think it does not matter because its just transmog, are people with zero xp about the game.
