Dark portal pass is pretty much the character boost (optional).
Deluxe is also the character boost but with 30 days of game time, 2 mounts (1 for retail/1 for classic) and 2 toys on classic. (optional).
You only need a sub to play TBC classic. Nothing else.
And they need more money

You wanna know the worst part? Because I can’t split my character, I will buy a boost. I will pay for what should be free, and I don’t even want it to work the way it does. I would’ve been far happier to just duplicate my character.

I don’t defend but like blizzard said there are people who don’t want play classic and want to into TBC, is better this than buy a boost on a rmt website and risk of get scammed.

You don’t need a boost to duplicate your char.
That is why retail have boosts too, there are always lazy people who only want Raid, Mythic+, PvP and just want skip all old content.

I plan to move my character to the era realm, then boost a new basically identical character for tBC. The reason for this is that I have a connection to the character and its equipment and playing tBC will make me unequip it all - so might as well unequip items I don’t care about.
The move or stay decision is free. Only clone is 35$
