According to Wowhead, EU’s token price is twice as expensive in gold in the Auction House compared to NA. Why is that? Are there more bots in EU servers causing inflation? Or is there bigger player base?
Its the same price worldwide
The amount of gold you get is different.
I updated the thread just before your reply. Ofcourse I meant the price in gold and what causes the difference.
It means the US buys more tokens then EU , if EU bought the same amount as them we would get less gold for it.
"The price is set by an algorithm made by Blizzard. While we don’t know the exact code that governs it, we do know in essence how it works.
When people buy tokens with real money to sell for gold, the supply of tokens on the auction house rises and the price is lowered to incentivize buying the tokens with gold. When tokens are bought on the auction house with gold, the gold price of tokens rises to as the supply drops to incentivize buying tokens with real money.
So in essence, if more people are buying tokens with gold than real money, the gold price rises. If more people are buying tokens with real money than gold, the gold price drops"
Allegedly, exchange rates and different economies are a thing.
say it isnt so
America = cash rich / time poor - The USA throw RL $$$ at gold making it worth less
EU (comparatively) = time rich / cash poor - The EU throw less RL $$$ at gold making it worth more
Since prices are set by supply and demand - this is the result.
Here endeth the lesson!
Because europeans are more willing to grind gold instead of spending money. At least those of us in the not-so-western regions.
Just means that NA is utilizing the token option more than the EU.
I’d never pay £17 for less than 300k
^^ This. EU wages are often worse than those in the US I think, especially East or some South Europe countries.
Meaning people can’t spare the money for ingame gold.
They probably are greater than a lot of Eastern european wages but Americans tend, on average, to work longer hours than we do over here which also makes a difference.
Don’t have frens in the US, but if you’re right, it makes sense as they’d rather play the endgame in their little time and not bother farming gold for days to get consumes.
