This game is pay to play and affli warlock is UNPLAYABLE in 3v3 vs dubble melee. Make me tanky again. Give us armor buff or a % dmg reduciton vs players. Maby soullink but then still our pet will die really fast since there is NO upgrade on our pets anymore. So maby best solution in armor. Even tho we are cloth but we have no root no slow so we must be tanky like earlyer expansions

I just found a video on youtube, don't be mislead by the title, it contains really nice feedback and well-conceived solutions.

I don't agree on everything, but it might give our class designers some inspiration.

Yup, pro players, warlocks, being unable to do anything against 2k rated opponents. This is the state of the class.

Sadly, I feel if i just switch now to something different I'll just quit now or when i return to the class and get disapointed again.
They don't know how to fix warlocks, even tho we give !@#$ loads of feedback.
Like we have to wait untill 8.1??

So %^-*ing hard to buff demon skin or give soul link back or increse SoC dmg for m+

Really?
Im playing lock in pvp as well and its kinda sad to feel how bad the class really is. You are playing pve in arena, because the melees will just train you to death. So thats what pvp should like in arena? Train a class with no armor, nearly no deff cds and swap the talents to choose between coil and port?! Really Blizzard?

Blizzard took nearly all of our Deff CD`S, swap the talents really really bad and thats the key to make a new class design?! To take away all the abilities that made the warlock "unique"...

We are waiting a few weeks now, since release and nothing really changed. I will stop playing, there is no sense to play a game for arena when the class is totally bullsh*t. There are now patches, maybe in 8.1, in like 5 years... We´ll see...
"Note that we’re planning another round of balance updates for the near future after this round, which will include changes for other specs (including Warlock and Death Knight)."

They definitely read feedback and respond

Edit: This post has been updated to 7.2.5 ptr feedback. If there is anything you think should be mentioned here, please feel free to leave a comment.

Hello fellow warlocks,

I've seen the Q&A and the question about warlocks. The devs noticed that warlocks were clearly unhappy with their class and they said that they are trying to figure out what the exact problems are and they're watching the forums now. However, they noticed that most posts are about "Reroll, quit game, gj ruining it blizz"
So now that the devs are looking for feedback, let's take this opportunity to give them clear feedback. I will summarize the feedback given below.

Simple rules:
- Tell us your main warlock spec
- 3-4 things you don't like about the spec right now.
- Be realistic and keep it short and simple
- No cry or rage posts.
- If someone writes something unrelated or makes a not appreciated post, click the dislike button so we can easily filter out those unwanted posts.

Summarized Feedback starts here:

WARLOCK IN GENERAL

Demonic Circle

The #1 mentioned thing about warlock in general is that Demonic Circle is missed as a baseline ability.

Demonic circle feels out of place in the CC talent row where we have to choose between 2 CC talents and 1 mobility spell.

We are tanky casters, so no, we don’t have to be mobile like mages, but we could use at least 1 gap maker ability. Demonic Circle was the perfect ability to fill this place as it didnt make locks too mobile without losing that ''tanky caster'' fantasy. Speaking purely from a PvP perspective: In this meleeheavy meta locks need something to ‘’reset’’ the fight from time to time.

Demonic gateway is our only baseline mobility spell right now and is not a loved as a replacer to Demonic Circle to PvPers. It has a 3 sec cast time, it feels clunky and is only available every 1.5 min. It only really shines in arenas.

Burning Rush should be a baseline ability

Locks without burning rush have a hard time in M+ content because they lack a mobility spell to keep up with the other classes who usually have at least 1. Burning Rush is the only talent locks have that can assist them in keeping up, but they have to sacrifice a defensive talent, which is kinda sour and they might need it in a phase that requires them to have one of these defensive talents. Some argue that it should be considered to make baseline and that the talent spot should be replaced by a new defensive ability.

Grimoire of Sacrifice

The old GoSac allowed us to sacrifice our demon and gain one of it’s abilities. It would be really awesome to have this back again, because some locks want to play without a demon and feel forced to play with one, because we simply can't afford losing most of the pet utilities (Interrupt mostly).

Bugs & Quality of life:

- When 7.2 went live, the unique voicelines of the glyph demons disappeared. It would be great to see them return!

- The Glyph of wrathguard bug was noticed and hotfixed, but this hotfix did not actually fix the problem. The wrathguard still seems to stand further away from raid bosss than the felguard. This is the cause for wrathguard not using mortal cleave, which results in a big dps loss.

- Many affliction locks loved the old Malefic Grasp animation, perhaps this can be added when you pick the talent. Or maybe this could be made into a Glyph?

- We used to have a glyph that allowed us to walk on water with our dreadstead, perhaps this could be reintroduced as a class book ability.

Darling, pls go in arena , be destro, cast demonic .. and have 2 mele..on you. tell me if u win:))) Grazz Blizz horrey!!!
Hello everybody. I would like to add some thoughts how i see demo.

Demo talents :

- DOOM . Have to be lower duration, probably with chance 5%-10% to do double dmg on a proc ( like it was in a Legion)

- Demonic Circle . Should be a baseline spell. I cant imagine go arena w/o this spell against ALMOST every comp with a melee. Solution? Ive seen this whole talents row like a CC talents, so lets imagine, shadowfury move to a talent(cd 45s), bring back howl of terror (cd 45s) and mortal coil(cd 45s). Seems fair for me.

- Soul Conduct. Cant find how to use it effectivly even with a demonic meteor trait. Solution ? Maybe this talent should summon additional imp to hand of guldan or extend duration of wild imps ... or simple way to increase the number from 15% to 25% . (only for demo)

- Inner Demons . Talent is fine, but i think chance to summon additional demon has to be higher.

- Demonic Consumption . I wish that talent looks like a Thal'kiel, for me it was a really strong button especially for pvp. Even with 1m CD would be fine.

- Nether Portal . The idea is really nice. Just need to fix it .

- Single magic . I dont know where and how can i use that talent in a pvp ... should be removed

- Call Fel Lord . No idea what was the reason to nerf it so heavily, probably because shadowfury moved to baseline. For now it absolutely garbage. Need to correct numbers, like it was in Legion.

- Call Observer . Numbers need to be corrected.

- Master Summoner . I see that talents has to reduce cast time of all our summons (dreadstalkers, vilefiend, demonic tyrant) lets say for 0.5s . So our abilities will be casted for 1.2 istead of 1,7 which is currently (depends on ur haste%)

I also think what numbers on demon skin should be increased by 0.5% / soul leech numbers have to be increased / and healing provided by soul link have to be increased , but id like to suggest removing unending resolve . Because i simple dont like everyone having a 1 similar defensive button . This those increase passives on defend abilities should provide good survivality @pvp.

And btw. whats was wrong with life tap???
My thoughts

Shift some of the soul shard generation into something passive, like felguard damage. That way we'd be less screwed during movement.
One way to do that is to reduce Dreadstalkers Demonic Core proc to 1 and simply give felguard a chance on hit to generate a Demonic Core proc. One every 10-15 seconds would be nice, not to mention less procs on the Dreadstalker would cause for less bursty influx of procs that can cause us to unwillingly cap.

Demonic Tyrant instant cast. It would barely impact our DPS but it would substantially improve the feel of the ability. Not to mention it sucks to build up towards it, having spent all cooldowns and soul shards, to then be forced to move because of random boss mechanics.

Increase cap and duration of Demonic Core. This is something that wouldn't be to high in demand, but managing your Demonic Core procs more efficinetly would allow for more smart play to min/max your damage. Like planing for movement or setting up for Demonic Tyrant.

Instant Imps from Hand of Gul'Dan. With any kind of haste procs, which there are many of now. If I cast Demonic Tyrant instantly after I cast a Hand of Gul'Dan multiple of my imps will not recieve the increased duration buff because they spawn in after the Demonic Tyrant has spawned (even with a cast time).
This is another "Feels Bad" type of moment in the Demonology Warlock rotation that could easily be changed without giving us stupidly high amounts of damage.

More tweaking in the final talent row. Right now it's pretty much Sacrificed Souls or bust, because all three talents are basically single target DPS increases, and in those cases everyone will instantly default to the strongest one.
Demonic Consumption could turn Tyrant into it's beta version where it was a Shadowbolt Volley turret, giving it a reason to be used in none single target situations.
Nether Portal right now just feels unnecessarily clunky when you use it. There is no reason why it cannot cost less soul shards to summon, have a shorter cast time and have it's demons spawn based on the amount of Soul Shards used instead of each instance of Soul Shard consumption. It's a cool idea, but poorly implemented.

Make the second talent row into less of a meme. Doom has been a topic of unsatisfaction ever since it's implementation due to it's ridicolously long tick interval as well as it's rather odd "5% chance on kill to summon doomguard" attribute. Has that ever happened to anyone in a dungeon / raid?
Demonic calling could very easily just be a passive, and if it turns out that doom would be to strong if it got buffed, just add a slight cooldown reduction to Demonic Calling as well. Remember, talents are all about adding interesting and fun flavor to a rotatino, if DPS gets to high just tune it down a bit.
Power Siphon... I honestly just don't like this talent. Killing imps for procs seem like a very Warlock thing to do, but Imps are a resource for Demonic Core procs already as well as Implosion damage. I think that it would just be better as a haste increase for your Felguard. With soul shard generation on our pet the haste increase would also result in more Soul Shards, thus the row maintains it's theme of soul shard generation.

Bug fixes.
Please for the love of Kil'Jaeden fix the bug that sometimes causes the opening spell for Demonology Warlocks to generate one less soul shard. It truly is the pinnacle of feels bad, especially seeing as it's not even suppose to happen.
make Doom baseline and summon Doomguard 100% chance on tick + Hand of Gul'dan summon Infernal instead of Imp at 10% chance per cast and you have the best spec ever

Hello, my favorite spec is Destruction PVP

My ways and suggestions to improve the game:

-shadowburn: deal X shadowflame damage to a target above 20% health, deal 100% increased damage when a target is under 20% health, restore 3 soul shard fragments, if the target die you gain a soul shard - 2 charge, 12 sec recharge

-grimoire of sacrifice: caster gain a demonic ability from the sacrified demon and +15% all damage and restore 1% health every 5 sec

-demonic gateway: now is a talent and not a spell, tier 75 talents instead demonic teleport (now a spell)

-entrenched in flame: now daze the target reducing movement speed for 5 sec. instead of root for 4 sec (more tematically with destruction)

-rain of fire: now cost 1 soul shard, have a CD and increased damage (good for mitych plus, maybe)

-ember tap: remove drain life (is very very weak spell for destro, and don’t fit tematically) and give us back ember tap, 1 shard, istantly heal the warlock for X%, with a short cd to avoid spam like MOP

and PLEASE, give us a glyph to revert burning embers MOP instead of soul shard!

Thanks for the post.

As demonology I am happy that we are finally showing in dps meters and in m+. However I feel bad about:

Doom [Talent]: Damage is bad in both pve and pvp.

Summon Demonic Tyrant: In pvp opponents can kite him easily. Lasts only 15 sec so any fear, stun, banish will most likely burn his entire duration.

From the Shadows [Talent]: Nice concept but 20% damage increase for 4 spells (shadowbolt/demonbolt/implosion/hand of guldan) is really bad. I believe 50% could barely out damage other talents in same tier in long run.

Dreadlash [Talent]: Not a useful at all. Revamp is required.

Also can you bring back old style talent trees? Nothing ever in any game will be more fun than vanilla/tbc/wotlk/cata talent system.

Guys this post was made in sep 2016. Not sure if you should still use this topic or not

The last illusion that Blizzard were ever interested in the Warlock community. I was going to say, they can’t ignore us forever. But they can, have, and probably will continue to do so.

There are indeed changes needed in order to make Warlocks great again (Admit it, you read that in Trump voice!).

Mainly play Destruction. Burn the non believers in the fel magic!
What i like right now are the new effects. Seriously they are great even tho some things should be changed but overall great. Demonology is much better now then it was in Legion.

As for things needing to be fixed:

  • First we need a real pet system asap. A way to capture demons in the active world and old raids in order to have much more diversity in demons.
  • The incinerate effect is like a fuse. It needs to be a wave of fire and pain like it was meant to be but with the updated graphics.
  • Chaos bolt effect is good but what would be better is something like a demon head opening its mouth and then closing it when hitting the target. Like the shark hologram in Back to the future 2.
And it needs to go through shields again. Make it a tool of fear among pvpers where no shield will protect them from it

Now the overall gameplay needs to be dynamic. More mobility! More instant casts for Demonology.
Destruction gameplay hasn’t changed since forever. Cast immolate, cast incinerate, then cast chaos bolt and do it again.
Maybe some changes are in order for Destruction? Something fresh perhaps?

And much worse then it was before Legion.

Hi, (sorry for typos, grammer, not my 1st language)

I main warlock since classic (longer break between ICC and Legion) and these are my thoughts. All points only discuss if that is fun for me, not if something feels to weak/strong/viable.
Main: Affliction but I play all (~70% aff, 15%, 15%)

The following things are not fun:

  • Waiting for shard generation (affliction)
  • Waiting for AoE CDs (affliction, destruction)
  • Waiting for shard generation for chaos bolts (destruction)
  • Being rejected for M+ as affliction

Misc wishlist:

  • I’d like to have a bigger variety of demons for all specs. The talent ‘inner demon’ to spawn imps and have 10% chance for extra demon is nice for demo spec as a) demons are created for you and the 10% chance to summon an extra demon feels also very rewarding if you get this non_imp pet.
  • Another thing I’d like to add are visuals: For example to have a small chance to spawn an “elite” version of a demon (for balancing purpose this can be only visually)
  • Summon darkglare feels good because the demon looks amazing and also brings something fresh into the affliction rotation. The only negative thing is the downtime (I know that there are azerite traits to lower them but that skill could need a shorter cooldown for the trade of being less powerful e.g.)
  • Having a better animation for dots when using affliction spec (affliction looks way less fascinating apart from summoning the dark glare - compared to demo/destro). A dot could have different animations (e.g. from time to time there could be also a portal opened where a demon hand comes out and … insert your fantasy here …)
  • More customisation options for demons (visually) (e.g. transmogs for each demon; doesn’t have to be too complicated or complex as already different versions of voidwalkers, imps, felguards exist or at least with the same skeleton)
  • Due to opening the transmog restrictions (warlock tier sets that can be used by other classes) I would like to have more visual options to show that I am a warlock such as fel animations where I step, hearing demons talk from time to time (thal’kiel is amazing!)
  • Better Animations for NPCs (when sucking out the life of an enemy using fel energy that would be great to melt their skin etc. - bit difficult, would also be fine if that happens client side only or allow and create an API for community mods)
  • I miss my Affliction AoE from legion (aoe after death … boom) - that was fun!
  • Bring back more class fantasy using class-specific quest lines, weapons, transmogs, lore, class (hall) areas (should be also accessible by non-warlocks to not separate players by instancing)
  • I WANT A TANK SPEC!!!

More Customisation Options
If a rotation for a spec is designed it would be great to give the player some power over at least the visuals.

Example1: Demonology
The rotation includes the felguard and imps (mostly). The player is able to customize the demon visuals have an elite imp (instead of felguard) and have the smaller ones. The demon models should be changeable to any demons in the game that support this class fantasy. This should also apply for any other spec (not limited to warlocks)

Example2: Affliction
I want to play affliction (e.g. I like the rotation) but I don’t like the visuals. I would like to be able to decide if my visuals are more based on fel energy, void. Therefore you have a separation in 1) spec and 2) visuals (already supported by the transmog system but sometimes the skills don’t fit the colour of transmogs).

Class Fantasy/Talents/Specialisation:
In general I understand the difficulty to balance skills/talents/items especially for PvP, Mythic+ and Mythic Raids (World 1st).
In an ideal world the player decides a class by reading the class description and their expectations are lower than the results the player gets from the class developers.

I would prefer to not have spec separation and have all skills available instead. By using talent trees we could increase the efficiency of skills we want to use in our rotation. In Classic it was nice having the talent trees but the execution was so 2004 :). That would need some better design than we had 14 years ago.

  • If I only want to do AoE damage then this should be up to me to have 8 skills only AoE. If I want to let me AoE rain green fire and sending imploding imps that should be also supported by the class design.
  • If I only want to have a specific boss killer and specialice in single target DPS that should be also supported by this design.
  • If I want to have a balanced spec with single target, aoe with demons - also fine.
In the end the balancing would be ideally in a way that this would be possible.
  • If I like to play a dot spec with rain fire that should be also decided by me. In the end my decision what skills I take will complete MY class fantasy.

Therefore it would be great to remove (9.0?) the current design and open it up for player’s choices.
I want to have a pool of choices (limited by class) and create my own spec instead of using the current spec templates.
That would benefit:

  • Balancing skills in general
  • Get rid of one layer of problems (e.g. denying/preferring specific spec)
  • Freedom for players to choose what skills they want to use (having a wide range of skills can be still beginner friendly e.g. especially during the leveling phase as we anyway have these holes of not gaining something); If something is beginner friendly is less determined by the amount of choices, more the quality of guiding the player how to make his/her decision).

Thanks
