This is rather annoying when questing or in instances when ignite keeps pulling mobs you did not intent to kill. My fire mage has got used to it that he has to kill every damn crap or snail or stupid bird in the immediate area of a target. I don’t really see much damage benefit from ignite except that it is rather just plain annoying!
As a well geared fire mage, ignite is pulling a third of my damage on single target, with multiple targets in an ideal setting its much much more, but thats because of the build (blaster master).
Also, are you positive that its actually ignite? it could be living bomb, conflagration proccing, an azerite effect doing aoe damage or many other things.
Are you sure they are all neutral? because its supposed to spread to hostile targets, thats how its designed, but i do agree that it shouldnt pull mobs of any kind that you arent already in combat with, then again maybe its just the mob chain pulling.
Yes I am very sure… Not sure on which spell does it but I have seen other posts with Fire Mages complaining the same ignite jumps even to neutral targets. I have seen how a crab change into hostile just from being close by. I enjoy the spell but trust me I hate Nazjatar by now.
it could just be the crab noticing that his friend is in danger, its kinda weird but right now all we can do is get used to it.
Compared to classic pulling several mobs is easy and i often do it on purpose, in dungeons the tank will do the pulls and you shouldnt have to worry about ignite pulling neutrals. So while it sure can be annoying at times, its not that big of a problem.
Yeah it is not a game breaker. Just annoying. With my other characters I can solo just the target I want to kill but with my Fire Mage I have to kill normally the few yellows around it as well. Which brings me to other pet hates. We are Mages… pretty much running around in pyjamas and definitely not tanky - Yet in most scenarios I have noticed my Fire mage even in world groups will aggro a boss the most even out aggrod a Locks void demon with a boss which means I am kiting most of the time.
thats mages for you, glass cannons that rely on kiting instead of tanking or stunning.
Yes don’t I now it… Yet we are the first the rare or world boss starts to chase lol.
Threat shouldnt really be an issue in retail, if you are pulling agro the tank is doing something wrong or you are the one who pulled.
Nope I am talking about WQ’s - I can even join a fight late and the rare will start chasing me after a pelted him with a few crits. This post is not a rant or complaint… just an observation as I am used to it by now.
God yes, it’s annoying. Would’ve thought they’d stop it from jumping to targets that you aren’t in combat with. I often end up with 2-3 times the number of mobs I was trying to kill because Ignite jumped to some passive turtle and then chained to 3 more
I’ve got it in my head that this is because crits generate more threat and we crit more often than pretty much any other spec. Anyone know?
Yes and then they give those stupid turtles enough health so it will take a bit of effort to kill some annoying neutral mobs that will give you no loot or anything but just there to simply annoy you! These crabs should have been able to be one shotted. Imagine in real life you go to the sea and you engage in an epic battle with a crab which somehow feels threatened by you. No, you would simply stomp on it or kick it away.
I’d give it a hug
Watch out for your shield doing dmg to mobs too it’s really good at aggroing crabs that your trying to ‘catch’ for some quest in murloc town.
