Fishing buffs addon/macro - preferences

I’m writing an addon that generates a fishing macro. It’s pretty simple - if you have an item that gives a fishing buff (and the buff is not active) then use it before fishing. I wrote it to always use the gold coins when fishing in the Dalaran fountain, but only when the buff dropped off. I have extended it to use the Oversized Bobber (toy or consumable). Here’s the question though -

If you have a buff (eg +5 Fishing) and you have an item that gives a better buff (eg +10 fishing) should you use it straight away and overwrite the +5 with the +10, or wait until the +5 drops off and then use the +10?

Or, like my other addons, should I just write it for what I prefer and let others choose to use it or not?

For me, it sounds like botting, since it automates control over the character by using items depending on the presence of buffs. I wouldn’t use it at all.
