I think the Mythic+ title threshold should be locked two weeks before the end of each season.
The current system creates a moving target: players can be safely above the cutoff, then lose their position because the threshold rises dramatically during the final days. This encourages unhealthy last-minute grinding, boosting, and playing around availability rather than skill.
Locking the required score two weeks before the season ends would not give the title away. Players would still need to reach that score before the deadline, but they would have a clear and predictable goal.
It could result in slightly more than 0.1% of players earning the title, but the difference would likely be small compared with the benefits: less burnout, less boosting, and more incentive to help other players push their final keys.
That is not how percentage works .you already have a rough estimate by today’s post and if you are that much worried you can always plan for a higher score .surely a player of your calibre could achieve it .
I actually think it’s totally fair for people to not want to run all the way up to the deadline, burnout is very real and with the number of attempts some of the keys need it’s healthy to have a break before the new season and it at times can really feel impossible to. I’ve been sat at 4030 for almost a month now and still struggled not to log in and push through fear of the moving target even when 1% only just exceeded 3.9k.
Although.. I do think that the issue OP discusses is secondary to the fact that the bigger impact on the moving scale imho is releasing another raid boss with increased ilvl reward + folio so late in a patch because it increases the theoretical key level attainable by everyone by a level or so, which means you’ve gotta keep the grind up to meet the 1% or title, pretty exhausting.
They should ban boosting in the future, not in a sense of being boosted with friends i mean disallow boosting as service including for gold needs to be disallowed, not only should it not be allowed it should not even be needed.
They should have rewards at 3k rating 3,5k rating 4k rating rather and give a extra special mount to the top 1000 but only allow 1 slot on the leaderboard per account
I bet if it would be based on highest reached per account the top 1% would be far more accesable as well but having it just be rewarded at 3k 3,5k 4k rating would make much more sense.
They should also consider extra mount reward for having for example 3k 3,5k 4k at each role or maybe extra cosmetic reward.
Yeah, no, that’s not how percentages work. If you start that, why not freeze it at 3 weeks? Why not 4? Why not 10?
Top 0.1 % is top 0.1 %. Top 1 % is top 1 %. If you’re good enough to be in them, you will be. If you’re not, you’re not. I don’t see a reason why lower the skill needed, just because.
Any percentage system creates a moving target. What you are asking for is for it to not be percentage based but score based instead.
If they do that then the title is not really 0.1% and 1%, but 2-3x times that. At this point just give the title to all players that either did 1 key level lower than highest done in the dungeon and 3 key levels lower than the highest done in the dungeon.
The only thing this will do is cause that ‘last minute’ window where expectations rise to appear sooner in the season, if the problem now is you can get the score halfway into the season but then last minute grinders change the playing board, if you move the lock 2 weeks before season end then you’ll move this problem with it, this isn’t a solution, the only thing that will change is people will do the exact same behaviour, you’re still creating a last minute cutoff that will generate this type of last minute play.
If you want something as prestigious as 1% or 0,1%, surely you’re at the level of competativeness where thats a small price to pay and if you don’t want too well maybe someone who does want to deserves that prestige more and everything is working as intended.
I don’t really see it that way, because if you freeze scores 2 weeks before a season end, that effectively becomes the new season end and people will just adjust their playstyle accordingly.
You could say you’re shortening the season that way, but even then the problem raised by the OP won’t be fixed by that and blizzard already gave their reason as to why they’re not interested in shortening or lenghtening seasons.
Theres no dramatic raise, what are you talking about?
Its a default +2-+4 rio per day.
Sometimes raider io shows incorrect info like +10 per day because of a bug, that sums stats for 2 last days.
Check mplus-title.vercel.app/mn-season-1/EU
Its more correct with timestamps.
You can also extrapolate and grind a little more, instead of shaking about title, like i did. Theres nothing hard in it
And this 0.1/1% title system cant be truly fair by definition anyway.
At the start of the season bis was around 285–287 ilvl. Now people are sitting at ~294 because of turbo boost and
Thats a massive difference in player power even before dungeon nerfs, class tuning and months of route / pull optimization.
Someone pushing early and someone pushing in the last 2 weeks are simply not playing under the same conditions.
So acting like the exact final cutoff is some perfectly fair measurement of skill is kinda funny. Its also measuring timing, gear and how long youre willing to grind at the end of the season.
Dozens of (then) viable Routes being discovered every day, possibly hour
Very Heavy RNG for loot that can mean the difference in player power between 5 and 20%!
Intensive Gold incentive to buy consumables, which cost a fortune right at the start of the season
Plain ridiculous time limit of two weeks. Imagine you were sick, or on holidays for only two weeks and now the 20 weeks long season is already over for you
All in all, you didn’t think this through and made comically ridiculous suggestion. That’s what I was making fun of.
In Fellowship there is a weekly calculation of percentile rankings and it immediately hands out the rewards to players who pass the thresholds. So you can choose when to push hard. It doesn’t force you to run in the treadmill until the last minute.
