You chat on Icecrown and keep a low profile. Not everyone is boring like you.
Good riddance. I was being a tool once in BG and called someone the D then U word and I got a one week mute , never did it again. Its called learning from your mistakes
Wow thanks for your kind words and thousands of people who have this problem what a nice person you are man. Nobody here was arguing that bad people should not be silenced just that the silence mechanic needs to change because it can be used systematically to target individuals.
You said yourself that he spammed trade chat so much that he got reported and got an automatic mute , that’s how bad it is. To reach that point you have to go very far and annoy a lot of people. I have no empathy for trade chat spammers and if all your friends have the same issue and are either banned or muted in game then you need new friends
Trade chat spammers are the worst kind in this game along with bots so yes , I have strictly no empathy.
And yes , if you get reported by so many players then there is something wrong with what you’re doing , getting reported by 5 players wont get you muted , you need a lot more for that to happen.
yeah, freedom of speech but not freedom of consequences.
your friend, if he exists, is a repeat offender and good for him he got silenced for as long as he did as he clearly neither respects rules nor learns from his mistakes.
no sympathy from me, good riddance.
Define spamming
Was he vulgar? No he wasn’t
Was he trying to sell something? yes he was.
This is a big server with a fast moving chat so he doesn’t have a choice.
It’s a bad system and people who defend it are just wrong and I don’t know what your problem is? You clearly don’t care about others only about yourself.
Did he deserve some of it? I’m sure he did. However, the fact that there is no gap for rehabilitation makes the system bad.
Your silence shouldn’t double because of something you did 2 years ago. They need to reward people for good behavior and they don’t.
He was spamming with more than 10 lines per minute , you admitted it yourself.
Yes he does , dont spam the chat and dont get banned or muted.
I care about my experience in the game , and trade spammers are ruining the whole channel for everyone , once again , no empathy.
You have consequences for your actions , if you get muted more than 20 times , you dont deserve a clean start , you need a new attitude.
Yes it should , getting muted 20 times is not good behavior its doing the same mistakes over and over again
Yep, it’s all automated just like in OW or HotS, we all know it’s a garbage system, Blizzard know it, we know it, everybody knows but it’s way cheaper than hiring GMs so there you have it, your friend was the victim of Blizzard’s greed.
Lmao please he got a mute for spamming the channel like a mad man and had more than 20 strikes for spamming if I understood correctly
What blows my mind is that people are defending this system. It’s not even monitored by GMs. it’s purely a system which relies on the quantity of reports you get from a bunch of Aunt Karen’s who determine what is and what’s not acceptable. Like who are you to report someone just because you don’t like something they said about politics or anything in general that is slightly controversial. People get super sensitive. They should just implement a mute, that’s it. You don’t have to ruin someone’s life and work in game because you get triggered. And I know you know this, I know that thousands of others know this its people like this intellectual midget above me who don’t seem to understand because they are bitter and want to see other people suffer. Some people just want to watch the world burn.
Then make an appeal to a GM.
It’s better to complain all over the forums that his friend (aka him) got muted for spamming for 10 months after 20+ strikes
@ Thimli
Just go away man, you’re spreading negative energy.
Just take your silence and move on , you had more than 20 strikes and kept going at it. Good riddance.
Your “friend” broke the rules. He got punished. System working as intended. And no, your “friend” deserves no sympathy or empathy.
Besides, getting banned til August means he broke the rules several times and received a silence several times. Not to mention even with a silence you can still play the game without issues. Or noteworthy issues to be precise.
Stop being so over dramatic
And we want to see the spammer silenced not burned
Judging from the tone in the anti booster trade chat topics i wouldnt be soooo sure about that tho
Inb4 he was using the premade system for some bullsh!t and got silenced for that.
Also i really enjoyed the ”out going and played for years” part. Ive played on this acc since TBC and only been punished once during wotlk. And im not one to hold back on…criticism…shall we say.
So yeah, if ive never been actioned in any way more than the one time i got a 24h ban, your mans did some bullsh!t
I mean, I wasn’t here and neither were you, they can appeal the penalty but I’m 99.99% confident it’ll be not overturned, that’s where the problem lies, you can’t actually appeal, you can’t explain your intent or give context, the GM will only give you a premade answer telling you they “checked” the reports and that the penalty is deserved.
The report feature works in general but it’ll always catch innocent people in the middle, it’s a very small minority but it shouldn’t happen.
The perfect example is when I got suspended for a day in OW for abusive chat, I asked for the logs, someone had reported me for typing the lyrics of a song with the word a** in them, the vast majority of the other reports were me asking people to stop feeding, it’s written in the ingame description of Gameplay Sabotage that feeding can be reported so I never thought I could be reported for asking people to stop doing something that can be reported, even nicely, turns out I was the one being reported, the only two valid reports out of all were me calling someone bad, twice in a year in a half… I tried to explain that to the GM but they didn’t care at all, it was just a day so I didn’t push it but you get my point, they don’t care as long as there are enough reports.
