So, reading between the lines in the OP - your 'friend ’ is actually you, you have been spamming the trade chat with WTS… and the silences have stacked up against you. Basically complaining cos Blizzard meted out a punishment fitting for the offences. No sympathy here I’m afraid.
I was given a 1 week ban about 10 years ago for something I cant even remember now, I’ve even recently been silenced on these forums. Guess what, I learned from my mistakes and not repeated them.

I know but people are aloud to read it. But i couldn’t place it without the * and changing the word into teddybear looks kinda weird
The way you talk to those who disagree with you, it really is unsurprising you got silenced in game.
If spamming wasnt the thing that did it, talking to others like this surely would.
To get to the point you have, it means you have been silenced many times and refused to take away any lessons from it.
If you really believe it was unjustified then I suggest opening a ticket.
There is nothing that can be done about it here.

This is where you lost me. I’ve been around the block long enough to know what loving free speech means online. 99% “but muh free speech” is used by corrupt people to defend their right to be corrupt or abusive or just a general nuisance.
I love free speech, but what I don’t love is someone being a nuisance. Being an annoyance and a spammer is not free speech.
Imagine there’s a debate going on between an atheist and a Christian about the point of existence. Then someone from the audience starts yelling about selling tomatoes and generally ruining the talk for everyone… his is not free speech. It’s a nuisance. Free speech is all about the expression of ideas, it has zero bearing on being muted in trade chat for a few months because you refuse to learn from your mistakes. Your friend didn’t get muted out of the blue, he got muted for so long because he repeated the same offense time and time again.
Don’t think the thread has gone the way the OP wanted it tbh, I get the feeling it was made in the hope of getting agreement and a feeling that the crime wasn’t justified…
If the person who was banned was banned for so long, then it must have been a multitude of occasions that the account was flagged.

Silenced for 9 months? Either that was the 25th offense, or your friend should appeal it.
Neither of which we, nor the ‘staff’ here, can help with.
Even when using the Trade Chat it really isn’t difficult to not get silenced for 9 months. Some silences are unjustified and those you can appeal, simple.

Closing this here as we cannot discuss account actions on the forums.
If your friend has been silenced for such a long time it means he has received multiple silences in the past.
Your friend can appeal his current silence, and also ask for earlier silences to be reviewed. If they’re not valid, they’ll be removed.
If Support finds evidence that reports were concerted effortes to abuse the report system then action will also be taken on the players behind these reports.
