From the US forums, arena AWC at Blizzcon:

"Raiku mentioned on his stream that all of the games for the AWC at Blizzcon will be played on Thursday when no fans are allowed into the event center. Is this true?

If true, Blizzard should be ashamed. What a disgrace."

Do you think this is in order to avoid any China/Hong Kong activist memes or disruptions to the tournament? Discuss.

No, this was planned long before the whole china incident.

Also I’m pretty sure that only the first few games will be played without people allowed into Blizzcon, the finals will be played after.

With what purpose?

I imagine they have limited slots, the game on the thursday is always behind close doors I heard, so they took the least popular one possibly and put it there.

Would be my guess; what does it matter, we can see it on twitch :S

game and politics do not match…

Games on Blizzcon until top8 have been always played out of official event

there has always been an opening week to get rid of the irrelevant trash teams from australia/china etc, then the real teams play in front of a crowd.
