The problem with this talent is the following:
- Weird delay from firing your Glacial Advance and proccing the effect.
- Its weird positioning in the priority list of your abilities. It is not above consuming Killing Machine which I think does not do this talent justice in the damage department considering it procs as a result of consuming Killing Machine.
- Only transforming Frost Strike means you risk using another Glacial Advance in the delay window mentioned before.
- Costing Runic Power and proccing from Glacial Advance (which also costs Runic Power).
- Not having an on-screen proc effect
A PASSIVE ability with this many downsides can not exist. This talent feels pretty bad to run and ruins the flow of frost by putting speed bumps in your rotation. Here is a few ways I would fix how this talent interacts.
1 - Transforms Obliterate, Frostscythe, Frost Strike, and Glacial Advance to Frostbane and making those abilities cost (30 Runic Power / 2 Runes / 30 Runic Power + 2 Runes)
- This first iteration will make Frostbane transform all of your spender abilities and making it your TOP Priority ability. Frostbane will attempt to use 2 runes or 30 runic power. If both resources are available it will use BOTH to do 100% more damage. Consumes Killing Machine.
Another underlying issue with Frost is overcapping resources. Frost’s boils down to using your abilities in a priority list due to how it quickly it generates its resources. This change makes Frost less susceptible to overcapping its resources. However, it does not address the problem with it proccing with a delay; meaning you might use resources in the delay window, whether consuming Killing Machine in the delay window, using Runic Power or Runes, weakening Frostbane’s damage.
2 - Making Frostbane transform BOTH Frost Strike and Glacial Advance, making them cost no Runic Power. Stacks up to 2 times.
This is the safest change. Frostbane ends up being an underlying buff to your Runic Power spending abilities.
- 2 Charges means you don’t have to worry about overcapping in case you fired a Glacial Advance during the delay window following your Killing Machine dump. Moreover, it allows you to make use of consuming 2 Killing Machine procs (via Killing Streak) and proccing 1-2 Frostbanes.
- Making Frostbane free means you wont struggle with Runic Power starvation from proccing Frostbane via hard casting Glacial Advance.
