Gaining less XP than group member

Hello there,

I am leveling with a friend. We both started leveling together with the same buffs, no rested XP bonus and heirloom gear. I was level 11 and he was level 10. He is now the same level as me and has more percent XP. The lead even grows. We only did the same content - together.
What is wrong?
