Game can freeze for 5 minutes

Every now and then the game freezes, usually in battlegrounds. Last night in AV it froze for around 5 minutes but only the graphics, I still see things in chat such as x casts x on player. After a few minutes the game starts again but at about a million miles an hour as it replays everything I missed over the last 5 minutes in about 2 seconds including my inevitable death.

This happened twice last night. I am on a 5ghz wifi with a RTX 280 and an i9 cpu 32 gig ram win 10.

What you’re describing sounds a lot like an issue that’s colloquially called “rubber banding”. It generally means your connection experiences high latency and can be somewhat unstable, and seeing as you mentioned being on wifi I’d start your troubleshooting here: https://battle.net/support/article/31320
