Help decide class after 6 year break

Its been almost 6 years since i last played WoW and i feel like i forgot a tonne of it and everything feels completely new and different. Back then i loved playing dps but with a healer spec as well. I am a casual player but like to join dungeons and raids now and then where i usually played as a healer but in the majority of my time i play solo and dps.
But since so many things have changed and new classes have arrived i could use some help deciding what to play.
In general what i like about a solo class is burst dmg. I dont like targeting a mob and then charge up for 5 seconds before i even hit it. Also mobility is high on my list. And lastly my motor skills tend to panic with all the buttons if im in real danger, so maybe not the most squishy class :stuck_out_tongue:

Hope someone has some suggestions.

Do you require a Healer spec?

6 years is three expansions, so not that long ago. The only new class in 3 expansions is Evoker, and I wouldn’t say Evoker fits your requirements.

I mean, if you like burst damage and mobility, DH and Warr sound good, but they don’t have healing specs. Paladin has burst, but not so much with the mobility.

Shaman seems to have been your class, You are specced Ele. Do you prefer casters to melee? Casters are not so much with the burst without charging up.

Is there a reason you are looking to change?

Honestly, I’d suggest visiting YouTube and watching a few of the many recent videos like

Best Classes for Midnight

to refresh your memory.

Personally, I prefer practice over the theory—and fortunately that’s what the Class Trials are for!

Beyond the fantastic pointers above, I can only suggest to try the classes out and see which ones you vibe with in actual gameplay. There’s been a lot of changes, in the last few months especially.

See the excerpt from the relevant support article below for more details.

I’d go for shaman. Why? Ranged dps, melee dps and a good heal spec.

If you struggle with too many buttons to press, check out the ‘single button assistant’ on the top right of your spellbook. It’s literally what you think it is: one button to press. Works for DPS, not for healing I think.
