This character has been my main for a long time but strictly on Alliance. With the launch of Shadowlands, me and my group of friends have decided to move over to the Horde, so I need some help deciding what race I should be playing.
Below I’ve listed the races that I seem the most interested in playing, but any advice on why any race (including allied races) fits as a rogue is welcome, (except Vulpera, **** those guys).
I like Orcs a lot. I think they have the best updates when it comes to customization, lots of choices. However since I only play as male they do look a bit too big and muscular to wield tiny, puny daggers instead of a giant two handed weapon.
Second option would be undead, also a lot of new looks and hairstyles and the option to choose your “decay” is very welcome. They are one of the most popular rogue races to play as (for a good reason). However I don’t like races that have a hunch over, which is why I didn’t like Orcs before.
And my last option would probably be Blood Elf. While they look very elegant and most transmogs fit them perfectly since they are the closest to humans in terms of how their body looks. I don’t reeeally like the male animations on them and I feel like half of the Horde is playing as blood elves. Plus I am already playing as one, just with “Void” instead of “Blood” in the name.
I gather that you arent focused on racials or what race is good for x/y/z content, am I right? In that case, no one can really suggest you anything tangible. It becomes purely what you like in terms of appearance, and in this case I will suggest Zandalari trolls. Aside from having useful racials in all content, what I really like about them is the physique: as in they aren’t hunched over, and their height/shoulders/waist ratio makes any decent tmog looks awesome on them. Pretty much all my toons are Zanda trolls.
Hi! I own two Horde rogues, Zandalari Troll and Undead. Both of these races, in my opinion, look BRILLIANT as rogues. Most leather sets look amazing on them so transmog is rarely an issue, and lorewise they fit pretty well too.
A comment on Orcs though: Are you completely against playing as a female character? If not, female Orcs make excellent rogues as well. Their body shape fits the aesthetic much better - nowhere near as big and clunky as male Orcs feel in the role.
I personally wouldn’t recommend Blood Elves as I kinda have a similar viewpoint to you - there’s already far too many of them.
I guess that leaves Undead! When I made my Undead rogue I found him repulsive at first - I liked basically nothing about the Forsaken apart from their awesome lore before I actually made one, but then he grew on me. I’m going to finish levelling him in Shadowlands, and I can’t wait for it. You might find you feel similarly, and might be able to overlook the hunch if you enjoy the look and feel of everything else about the class/race combo.
I feel like that goes for all your choices though, but I think Undead might be a good fit for you. Alternatively, try them all when the new levelling system drops and see what you like the feel of the best!
This is true. I don’t care about what racial is “the best” as long as the race that has it looks good. Since I primarily play with friends I don’t need to have the best racial.
Zandalari trolls, yeah they do look pretty good and I like the lore behind them. Thanks for the input.
What’s so bad about the Vulpera? Their racials are incredibly useful with their camps and bag of tricks with its multiple functions and insane range. The extra heal have saved me and others many times, plus it gives you a heal spell to use on old raid bosses that require healing when you solo like ICC, can even chip in on Sethraliss, the only race that gives a castable heal for rogues!
THEY ARE FURRIES!! /sarcasm off. Since I choose race primarily on apperances and not racials I don’t care what is “good”. I don’t like how they look so I won’t play as one. But if I did care about racials, yeah Vulpera racials are pretty cool. But so are Orc’s stun resist and Undead’s fear/charm/sleep removal.
Right now I am leaning towards Undead with Orc second. I will wait til prepatch is out on wednesday and then make a choice at that point.
