High Lag in TBC Classic

Hi there,

Occasionally when I’m playing I’ll often get extremely high peiods of lag, at times I’ve seen it go over 450ms and stay there for a few minutes. As a healer main this means that at times I’m at fault for people dying as my heals take forever to complete.

Below I’ve included the results of the Looking Glass tool. Any help would be appreciated.

Looking Glass results

Is anyone looking into this? Currently my lag is sitting at 699, its making playing difficult.

Hi there! We would be glad to help you with this issue, could both of you be so kind as to provide us with a WinMTR as explained in here please?

Here are the results for each of the servers listed.

Could it be a problem with one of your Data Centres?

Is there any update on this? Entering instances seems to cause huge lag spikes making it difficult to play.

I’m paying for something I can’t use and thus its quite annoying.

Heya Caville,

Thanks for the connection tests. These are very unusual as you are peered immediately to our game servers. It seems all of your ISP’s internal routing is excluded entirely from your tests.

There is packet loss being reported on your original tests within our network however this likely is originally within the network hops being hidden/excluded in the tests. There are no issues within our EU networks. If there were, we’d very much see more posts and we’d be happy to confirm this.

Thing is, in current Wow (Shadowlands) there is absolutely no lag issues at all, but in TBC its still very apparent. I’ve spoken to my ISP and they say from there end everything is fine (plus if Shadowlands shows no issues then I’m inclined to believe them).

Are there anymore tests either of us can run to track down this issue?

There sadly wouldn’t be tests we could do as these seem to be blocked. Aisde from standard troubleshooting such as resetting the games ui, power cycling the modem/router etc. It could also be worthwhile testing if this occurs under another connection such as your phones LTE.

This is still a problem for me, I was just kicked from a group due to my poor healing which was caused by lag. Again I tested by logging into Shadowlands to find that the highest my lag went was 21ms, this tells me that theres no problem with my internet connection.

I enjoy playing classic but can’t do so when the poor connection is causing me not to be able to play properly.

If you’re telling me there’s nothing you can do then who can I speak with in regards to getting the 2 months I purchased refunded?

Ok, I’ve managed to re run the WinMTR tests and this is what I have found.
