Hows the patch and is all good?

Ive booked the next 2 days off work so that i can play.

Is the patch good? Fun?

Or did i waste my time?

Edit: ive now played the patch and its okay.

A little devoid of content outside of grinding rares and events which pop up randomly. Id be more okay with them if they were more frequent. Youre just sorta afk waiting for the next to pop up either 30 seconds later, or 10 minutes later. It seems to have no pattern.

I hate explorer gear. I dont know that a single player actually benefits from its existence.
We should start at adventurer level.

I do like that 10.0 content is still relevant as it can give flightstones and the rep chests give drake crests. It at least means there is reason to play outside of the new zone.

Its not the worst, not the best.
Hopefully the event starting next week will bring some more life to it.

Its alright, but booking two days off work for it might be abit overkill. Assuming you are up to date with the game so far, going through the introduction, the available story chapters, and clearing the available worldquests takes half a day at most. Season 2 doesn’t start untill next week, so you have all week to do this.

  • The new gear upgrade system looks promising.
  • The new underground zone is a bit “meh”.
    • I find questing very boring, so there’s not much of value for me there.
    • There are lots of rare mobs and they are shown on the minimap before they spawn, so it’s easy to get to them before they are killed, which is great. You can get catch-up gear from them and upgrade it up to 398.
  • Season 2 with M+ and raids is only starting next week.

Another patch, another lame zone with more of the same crap…

World quests, treasures, rares, cheesy characters designed to amuse infants…

Cancel your days off. Definitely not worth using them for this…

It’s subjective. End gamers are QQing. I personally love it. The zone is beautiful with deepholm vibes and the mole people are cute and funny. I loved the story, looking forward to gearing in it and there are chest puzzles which are fun. If you take the game too seriously I guess you won’t like it.

Logged in last night to have a look at it, there’s so much going on in that cavern at once lol

Its a dull cheap patch. The zone is beautiful to fly in tho.

the zone is largely empty with random rares and 3-4 world quests

terrible effort by blizzard

  • dont expect much from them nowadays now they are in crisis mode and cant ship content as their staff are getting sacked every month

Mm, the zone’s prettier than expected, I wasn’t exactly excited about a cave. The new gear is way prettier than expected. Story so far is quite good and fun to experience. (I’ve done like 2 chapters, I don’t want to rush it.)

The only world quest I did was the pvp one and it had a fun gimmick with snails that can give you a bonus ability. That being said, it was really long without fighting players, also the zone as a whole has so many enemies that can interrupt or reflect spell damage(for a few seconds of course) that casters might have an interesting time with.

The new niffen people are kinda cool and cutesy. There’s also a new minigame that you can dig using maps to get some kinda treasure? In my experience each of the two runs has been way too short though.

There’s also the new upgrade system that is actually explained really well through questing.

Also I had a cutscene play when I first logged in but I skipped it by mistake so I’m not really sure if I didn’t miss anything. I’m not a fan of being thrown in a cutscene the second I log in though.

Use that for Diablo 4 instead.

Dragonflight is not worth this much time investment

What makes you think that D4 is? It’s far from the best thing ever.

Just to blast through the story, I enjoyed the beta very much.

WoW has not been my ”Main game” for a long time.

I mostly see a new patch as punishment, Since you have to refarm the same items with just alittle higher ilvl and you lose your tier and have to wait 6 weeks for catalyst to unlock and then another 4 for full set.

But yeah, ”New” dungeons in M+ rotation so maybe that keeps it fresh

But new patch mostly means 2 months vacation from WoW

The story did seem to have a good start, yeah^^
I have tons of positives to say about that game but sadly many negatives too. Though I doubt you’d care about what some random has to say about a game that you’re excited about, i mean I sincerely hope you have the best time ever with it, but I am definitely not buying it on launch from what i experienced in closed beta and the 1 day I played in open beta.

I agree that this design is not the best thing ever for me either but it has been that way for 18 years now. There’s always a new patch that brings better gear than your current one. I do appreciate that they brought new gear to the old world quests this time around so it doesn’t kill the old zones completely like shadowlands would…Hopefully.

Honestly, like I’ve said before, I have no idea how do people run the same dungeons for 6 months. Yeah, it will be fresh for sure, but not for that long.

Also fair enough, considering how most patches just need hotfixes to basically everything 2 months is a safe amount of time to wait. Like I got keystone master yesterday, right? It took me a few hours, but also i simply played the best version of these dungeons by just… waiting because of the balancing I saw on launch. Soo yes, you’re likely doing the wise thing

Nash. You see the same cutscene when you pick up the starting quest in Valdrakka. You missed nothing if you did the full campaign.

Yep.

I’m not one of those; but I’m not impressed with most of this patch.

The zone is claustrophobic and dreary and ugly.

The Niffen are irritating and ugly.

I’m not.

If you mean the sniffenseek or whatever they call it; yeah that part’s okay. Mini treasure hunts with puzzles.

Like you said: It’s subjective.

new gear upgrade system is good but will become the same as valor in a few weeks since open world content can’t push it after a certain level so it’s more like getting all together but won’t affect the gameplay imo

I personally like it so far. I did the first 4 chapters today (was busy yesterday), and it was good. Cleared the map of WQs and some rares, and here are some conclusions.

What I didn’t like:

  • Some WQs are boring as hell and take alot of time to complete due to competition. This will either get fixed or it will get easier with time since it’s a start of the patch and everyone is playing.
  • Some mobs are annoying as hell and take ages to kill. Mainly the elites one with shielding, and the ones that spawn 4 rocks. Generally, takes too much time to kill them.
  • Although I like the zone, I think it’s abit too big, and since dragonriding works abit better with going up / down, using ‘surge forward’ is abit slow and it takes alot of time to travel around.
  • For me personally, the gear upgrade system is far too complicated. I don’t enjoy it one bit. When it comes to gearing, I’m the kind of guy ‘get gear, equip, gg’. This is becoming far too overwhelming.

Now to the good points:

  • I love the idea of the zone, meaning it’s a cave, lying beneath the Dragon Isles. It’s something new and unique.
  • The niffen are quite unique aswell, which is very good.
  • Apart from rares and chests, there’s quite alot of other activities in the zone. We’ll see how they play out, as I have only done 3-4 at the time of writing.

Yeah I do hate the elite bit. As a Guardian Druid I basically take no damage but they take soooo long to kill, especially with their 4 pillars. It’s fine if you have a group/zerg of people but I just cba with it, really.

The gear system was overwhelming at first but it’s actually rather simple once you get a handle. If I tried to explain-like-I’m-5 there’s 3 types of gear with ilevel caps and you want the “Adventurer” and “Veteran” gear (assuming you’re not gearing via M+ and Raid).
Flintstones as I call them (flightstones) are your basic upgrade material that drops out the sky.
Eventually you want shiny blue gems as well. Then you want shiny purple gems.
Shiny blue gem shards are easy to come by, purple gem shards guarenteed drop by rares which spawn all the time.

So in simple form:

  • Get blue/purple base gear (purple is obviously better), upgrade with stones.
  • Upgrade with shiny blue gems + stones
  • Upgrade with shiny purple gems + stones, tada level 424(?) eventually.

I hope that helped…

Thanks for the explanation, you explained it much better than the quests did
