Okay… So once I heard that Hunter is loosing knockbacks after watching Soulscapes stream… I looked it up, and it gets even worse than that…
Hunter is loosing:
Scatter Shot
Bursting Shot
Explosive Trap
Tar Trap root talent
This didn’t just hurt Hunter for PvP… It actually nuked it entirely.
Classes that only focuses on “killing fast” are SUPER boring… But that’s the direction WoW is headed apparently, because many other classes are having their CC pruned as well…
All classes have had their CC pruned. It’s not mutually exclusive to hunters. Also hunters at the moment are insanely strong in PvP on beta. And I think the trend will continue onto live.
It’s undeniable that on live currently that there’s far too much CC in the game. It’s about time they pruned it.
This sentence is so insane. Maybe BMs considered strong, but only because of damage balance issue, not because of cc or utility, this is not going to live fo sure. MM and surv just get trained by any class right now in beta. For hunter its crucial to have roots and explosive trap, especially when game will be so slow pased. Tar trap just useless, except cases with pillar in pvp and some ultra rare moment when tank try to kite in pve. MM just pathetic right now, no streamline, no explosive shot with lock and load.
Not all classes get gutted like hunters. Irony, you typing with warlock char, warlocks only get new buttons: coil AND howl AND double portals. Demo also have double stun. Warlocks literaly powerhouse of cc. Warriors get another gapcloser with spear.
So arguments are less valid if you post from a certain class? give me a break. Hunters are never not strong, and they will be strong going into Midnight. Fact.
and yes, if you say ‘all classes have had their cc pruned‘ with warlock class avatar, class that on his way to becoming S+++ ultra god tier cc utility damage all aspect class, it looks like a joke
Yeah I spend some time testing to see the various changes on different classes.
Hunters just got hit the hardest out of all CC changes overall, so it hurts quite a bit. Especially considering that “traps” are a core fantasy of hunters.
Imagine they removed Warlocks Demonic Circle and Death Coil… That is comparably what they did to Hunter…
I didn’t test their strength in PvP in beta, but “how hard they hit” can always get balanced out.
I just really hate when “fun” is removed, and I feel that Hunter got gutted in that department… No amount of rework will make up for the lost traps.
Maybe just maybe hunters had the most CCs of all classes ( even more than rogues) and losing all these CCs makes you think the class got hit hard when in reality the class got pruned the right way.
There is prob more but 4 cc abilities all which are either 1 min or around that is pretty darn good. This is also excluding the UTILITY you bring as a hunter with dispelling of MAGICAL AND ENRAGE effects.
Compared to warlock which i play i have
Fear, cap at 1 target
Aoe curses at ONLY 30%, 100% for 12 seconds but on 2 min cd
Shadowfury 1 min with cast time / howl of terror 40-30 sec cd
Mortal coil 45 sec, unaffected by talent “horrify”
Banish, cap at 1 target and makes banished immune
Keep in mind that our aoe curses only got added in midnight, we didnt have anything like that beforehand. Also banish is EXTREMELY situational as it makes the target immune and its heavily dependant on wow devs making it useful for us specificly.
There is the large elephant in the room being demonology having 1 interrupt/stun + a interrupt/magic dispell but that is spec locked so i wont generalise into this list.
We still have insane burst on MM and crazy sustained damage on BM.
I appreciate your concerns, but I think as a hunter, we’re going into Midnight well equipped. Time will tell, but losing CC isn’t one of the issues imo, and that’s coming from a hunter main since TBC.
Haha love how this comes from the most CC heavy class in the game going into Midnight Which is exactly why I’ll be jumping on Shaman and Druid in Midnight, since they so far have mostly remained untouched when it comes to CC
Hunter lost all its fun to me with the changes… “Raw damage to kill things fast” is not the playstyle I enjoy.
Also they are removed root from sentinel talent, Aspect of the Cheetah from talent Moment of Opportunity, so you cant combine its with Aspect of the Fox
