While hunters have been nerfed to a reasonable point, it still feels that the beast mastery rune is problematic since it requires 0 input from hunter to be effective. It is the reason why eye of the beast memes happened or a hunter pet kills you in bg while you are hiding in the corner.
My idea is a rework of the rune to something similar to Go for the throat talent in wotlk.
In other words to replace the passive focus regeneration with something like “your successful auto attacks give your pet 25 focus” or maybe a combination of passive regeneration and this.
With something like this you can nerf the pvp dmg without affecting the pve. It also forces the hunters to engage on pvp and not stay afk while their pet kills. It also opens the possibilities of faster ranged weapons to be in meta and may create some fun synergies with improved aspect of the hawk and rapid fire
