Kazzak realm seems %99 Horde. Im with alliance char expecting to see many horde but i dont. Actually i see ally people from other realms like Twisting nether etc.. How is that cross realm thing work? Why there are not lots of hordes player come my way? Or somehow computer send ally players to me because im alliance??? Lots of questions in my mind
Sharding and layering.
Those two should never be in MMO game.
Oh no! Is this same thing in RP servers? or they are corrupted too?
I think RP realms and former RP-PvP realms (like Defias) are sharded together, making them have even less players with Warmode on.
I play on Stormscale which is/was a Horde dominated realm and don’t encounter a lot of players in the open with Warmode on. Like you I thought being Alliance on a Horde realm would mean lots of PvP encounters.
There just isn’t much motivation to play with Warmode in general I think.
It’s layering and it’s annoying. I have a character on Sylvanas (which was Alliance+ and on Eredar which has a Horde+) and it doesn’t feel like it at all.
Layering is such a bad concept. I had it so often that I fought over a war chest with some other players and suddenly a 20+ group phases in destroys everything and phases out.
Utterly stupid concept.
Here is a quick lesson on how this works. ![]()
With warmode off, a fixed cluster of servers get sharded together constantly to balance player numbers in zones. So in reality, the realm you are on only matter in small special cases… But mostly, server population is completely irrelevant.
So don’t worry about “faction balance” on servers too much.
That’s why “you being on Kazzak” is completely irrelevant.
When DOES picking a server actually matter?
With WM off, servers are clustered together with other servers, and these are FIXED and don’t change unless Blizzard manually makes changes because of server balance.
It really only matters long term if you plan on picking an RP server, since these typically get sharded together separately. Which ALSO counts for Warmode btw. So if you wonder why WM is empty on a RP realm, it’s because RP server players tend to ignore WM.
Some capital cities are also clustered together differently when it comes to servers. Even when it comes to the group chat. And these can differ from the above mentioned “fixed server cluster” which counts towards open world zones.
”I don’t see enemy players in WM?”
With WM on you get sharded with EVERYONE else who has WM on.
Server is COMPLETELY irrelevant, since ALL EU servers are sharded together, and all US servers are sharded together.
So why don’t you see many horde players on “horde heavy servers like Kazzak”?
It’s because of these reasons:
- No Horde (across ALL servers except RP realms) are playing in WM in the zone you are in. Faction balance on your server is irrelevant if you are in WM.
- Horde players use WM to farm mobs (super annoying, but yes this is a thing on the Horde side), so they are all stacked in one location where Alliance players typically don’t come.
