I missed the Classic train…

If BGs your only concern, realm type is of no consequense whatsoever. ALL Era realm are one big battlegroup.

No it is not true.
No matter if you have 0 or 40 toons in SoM you can still make a new ones there. I just did - first on my own with 5 already, then on my SO’s with 0 characters in SoM. Both accounts now have an undead rogue made today,

Berny is super sad for Touchie!

Classic was magical, and Berny had tons of fun.

Berny hopes wotlk will die in 2-3 months, and blizz release wow 2 or fresh 2.

Maybe i misunderstand. What i mean is that you cannot select a SoM server that is marked as “locked” (in EU case all PVP servers - bonescythe, dreadnaught and ironfoe) and create a char there UNLESS you already have one.

I never made a statement about realm type. My point is that i would NOT advise the OP to start a new char, level to 60 and hope to enjoy WSG. ERA is far too progressed to that - in my opinion

This is true, but there’s still the two normal servers Quel’serrar and Kingsfall if you want to level with the 100 % buff on SoM.

I could not say, as I do not do PvP at all. And OP is not mentioning BGs at all only 20/40 man raids. Those at least are still happening in Era.

well thats true. so as far as Raids are concerned, there is one pretty much every day on Horde Firemaw. no issues there

Hello. Since i know you have been on this thread i mind as well reach you out here because i think that there is some misinformation going around out there.

Is there a way, a website, some actual data that would tell us even approximately how many people are playing on the classic era realms or vanilla classic, even if it’s only on the biggest cluster which i would imagine to be the PvP cluster?
Sometime last week one of my guild members was saying that the server must have between 3 to 5K people, i don’t know how accurate it is, i don’t know if it was for horde only or counting both factions.

There this big hype for this private project that opened up and by consequence a demeaner towards Classic Era servers, i wonder why, we should be happy that we have several choices out there to play this or any other game that we enjoy, and since they reached 6K players well they are happy and i imagine that they think that we that are here feel what? Sad? I joined Classic Era a few days ago and i’m having such a great time and seems that more and more people are joining every day, i guess that the pserver has something going for it, it’s fresh but we will see how long that lasts i guess.

I do not know of any such places, and I do not really care about numbers as long as they are not too big  I only play there – on thePvE cluster with my ‘normal’ characters, and on HW with my IronMan characters – My impression (and that’s all it is) is that the PvP cluster with Firemaw is the most populated cluster with the PvE cluster not far behind. Dungeons and raids happen in both clusters.
Pservers are not for me.

Why aren’t interest in those private projects?
To me, and don’t get me wrong, i understand that they are hyped especially when they are fresh but from my understanding and after some research, those are free yes but they can also be gone from one day to the next, knowing that WoW as a mmorpg requires an investment of both time and effort, that would be a terrible fear in my mind that from one moment to the next i could simply loose everything.

I am really interested in if there are fresh guilds. Not the Naxx-geared people running MC in 20 minutes so I can get loot instantly. A genuine fresh guild which has some challenge left in it before Naxx.

Also. I am afraid to try pvp. I will get wrecked with Might of Menethil warriors. So basically I should get free loot for 2 months and then try pvp?

I don’t do Pservers, because:

  1. I want to keep my characters forever.
  2. I do not like PvP.
  3. I am not into FRESH, I always wait around 2 weeks after major patches, launch etc to play … I hate full.
  4. My very old PC cannot handle the Pservers (nor Dragonsomething Retail  ).

But the relevant question is - are there still 40 people to find for a raid on the most populated classic era realms? Like e.g. MC, AQ40, Naxx etc.

Last time I checked - I ran AQ40 with less. It was a speed run though. Even the hardest pack went down in minutes. I think there were no wipes. You don’t need 40 men unless you are running Naxx. DPS triples with Naxx gear.

The answer is a definite yes. All raids are done on weekly lockouts, on both alliance and horde.

Firemaw alliance has two full-clear guilds and one progression guild (just completed AQ40)

Horde have a similar number (more I think), plus a GDKP run. There are plenty of players and opportunities on the Firemaw Cluster.

Edit: And the numbers are increasing daily, its way busier than when I joined 5 months ago.

Hello.

If i may give my 2 cents here, i am new to vanilla WoW but yesterday i was around in Orgrimmar i did some /who checks and there was a full group at Naxxramas.

Also to add, and I know this is far from scientific;

5 months ago the alliance AH had approximately 3k auctions a day. Sometimes dipping below.

Recently, with the continuing influx of players, that number has doubled, so its breaking 6k now. Today it was 6.2k.

I trade a lot and scan every day. Like I said, not great data, but there is some indication of how the population is growing. Slowly, but steadily. And if you cant get it on the AH the open world is quiet enough (but not dead) to be able to actually farm the things you need.

Yes, both on the PvE cluster (such as Pyrewood Village) and the PvP cluster (such as Firemaw). Both servers offers multiple runs for both MC, BWL, AQ40 and Naxx plus other raids and dungeons.

On Pyrewood there are guilds running Nax, but also guilds who are progression raiding (just finished MC/starting on BWL). There are also plenty of people levelling, but AH is generally quiet.
