Not a bad problem to have. As a strictly DPS player, I’d happily have tanks be able to do this.
I feel like we’re playing 2 different games. It’s not even remotely as common as you portray it. Also, if someone just criticizes your tanking/healing, it’s not automatically abusive, just to make sure we’re on the same page. Sure, abuse happens sometimes, but I don’t think it’s common at all.
It’s Massive Tank Shortage or is That Majority choose to play as dps having an increase number of Dps ?
There is no shortage if people choose to play dps increasing the number of Dps …
The game has the option ~play whatever you wanna play.
Introduce a tanking spec to the shamans and the numbers will go
only if it is better than the other tanks hehe.
Btw we need less specs in general than more.
It is we the customers that decide whether to be tank or not (same with all the roles), so play nice and stick to your role, and maybe this will be solved.
The issue with tanking is you make a lot of effort, just for your group to throw the key on a boss.
There’s a tank shortage? Interesting considering I get denied in even low keys as a 600ilvl or today a healer left because they wanted a “new tank”. And I have timed every key without issue but I’m trying to climb up slowly.
Most players do not play tank because its not enjoyable, i recommend they look at other games that have tanks but no tank shortage, and make it more enjoyable.
Firstly the ilvls below 610 got swiftly invalidated by delves this season, so yeah, if you are below that, then its better to list your own keys, especially as a tank.
And then here is the old new design where tanks may be obliterated in a single gcd unless they are being burst healed. So much fun, right? And results in a lots of depleted keys so this also shifted the pug requirements way upwards (both ilvl and m+ score).
Most groups are at very least avoiding prot paladins and actively looking for wars/druids, because those at least have less chance to collapse due to minor mistakes and/or with a weaker babysitter (new sub role of the m+ healers).
There are less tanks than ever before, but ppl also become pickier than ever before due to the things like the +7 affix, natural beauties like necrotic wake and the general difficulty delta compared to the previous seasons.
This is the first season where baiting tanks into the group by a dps changing role to heal and then back to dps after they join and vice-versa, is actually a pretty common thing now…
This. I love tanking on my druid as a incarnation of Ursoc himself. However dealing with pugs outside (and sometimes even in) delves is so damn bothersome, that I dont do mythics or raids anymore. Let alone heroics if I dont have to.
tl;dr why should one bother playing a tank if they have to go through the same headache and jump through the same hoops as DPS players just to get invited on top of having to deal with all the extra that comes with playing a tank?
Yeah, well sometimes I do because nobody else applies so its faster, but I usually really regret it midway when I notice how unfun the overall gameplay is with practically zero benefits other than being able to form the group faster.
Its certainly doable, its just not fun… its way more stressful, than just switching to Balance and dmging. I mean its a very squishy spec so I still must keep worrying about my survival on numerous tyrannical bosses like SoB last boss, CoT last boss and so on, but at least not constantly like on my tanks.
If I had to point out what I really want them to fix with tanking then it would certainly be this:
its way more stressful
It always was like this, but I feel it has crossed a line this expansion. Gearing will solve this ofc, but that is not a solution, but a bandaid.
As a tank I can only hope that Blizzard will continue to make tanking as unattractive as possible. I will keep receiving instant invites for any type of content I want to do until the end of this game’s lifespan.
Also in this season it seems especially that there is no no point running your own key, cause no one else has any respect for the key holder, and they’ll just leave/etc and you will have a depleted key.
Which means if you’re not a meta dps spec, you’re completely screwed lol.
Tanks felt best when there was a def cap and then you stacked stamina, you did a good amount of damage and had lots of mitigation and due to stamina you had a nice window of cushion for big damage spikes. We need that back.
And a few more huge cool shields wouldn’t hurt, I always tank best when I have a cool looking huge shield equipped.
We shouldn’t be doing dps damage we should be maintaining threat but we should be the hardest thing to kill in a raid / dungeon without being bored.
And do tanks even agro swap anymore on bosses? Haven’t seen that mechanic in ages
Theres ppl that care about parses on progress, or dmg over global in self heals in m+ theyve not timed yet. Aslong as players mentality on average in general is eat frontal to continue doing dmg there will be less healers and tanks as its not fun to clean after that greed
The mechanic is still there to aggro-swap. The point is in LFR it isnt needed anymore. And I recall more then one moment where a guardian druid (like myself) was able to solo-tank a raidboss just long enough to get the other tank up and running again. But since the massive self-healing nerf you dont have try that again.
They wanted tanks to rely more on healers, but I see a lot of topics where healers complain they have to dps as well.
I dont think the game is heading towards a good path this way.
i agree on that
fix tanks.
