Is killing your own alts in War Mode for Honor a bannable offense?

Hello everyone!

I am currently working on 500 Honor Level for the achievements and mounts. I want to make sure I am completely following the rules and avoiding any actions that could risk a ban on my account.

If I purchase a completely separate, second active WoW account, manually control both characters myself (without any software, macros, or automation), and kill my own alternative character in the War Mode to farm Honor, is this allowed?

Does this count as win-trading or exploitation of game mechanics since it takes place in the open world and not in rated Arenas or Rated Battlegrounds?

I want to stay 100% compliant with the Terms of Service, so I would really appreciate any official clarification or insights from players who know the exact rules on this. Thanks!

thats actually an interesting question…. i do believe it could be bannable, but, its almost in the grey area i guess.. u r technically not harming anyone’s gameplay, u r not technically bug abusing or exploiting… im pretty sure it would still bannable

Short version: No, this isn’t allowed. Killing your own alts for Honor is treated as exploitation, even in War Mode.

The Wintergrasp / Ashran “Kill Groups” (Warlords of Draenor / Legion)

During Warlords of Draenor, players needed nemesis quests and Gladiator’s Sanctum broken bones. Players set up cross-faction "kill groups" in Ashran or the open world to trade kills. GMs went on a banning spree, citing “win-trading” and “disruption of the economy/gameplay,” resetting players’ PvP progression to zero.

How bold of you to presume today’s Blizzard would care banning such small fry

Couldn’t say for sure that is bannable, but for sure it would be totally inefficient.

Better off farming normal bg’s and epics.

I know its not on subject but i tested the spacial rift thing that rogue did on your stream. It seems like it is unlimited range, i tested on bridge of quel danas, you can pretty much cross the bridge to the point where when you teleport loading screen will come up. The timing to take flag and port mid wsg is impressive you have like 6 seconds to port back.

Yeah using only +1 account is really inefficient, but if it would be allowed with only 1, then it would be allowed with many and I wanted to try 40+ to AOE them on GY that respawns them every 30 sec automatically, could speed up it right? But as I see there were already cases with “win-trading” bans for such things so I better no risk and stick with daily runs on alts and loot war caches while waiting.

The hell? Why would you want to pay for 40+ subscriptions + midnight expansion on all of them, only to get 500 honor lvl? I mean, even if the 500 honor lvl mount would be your favourite mount of all time, then it would still be an insane amount of money you waste for 1 thing, that you can also just grind over some month by daily bg win farming on many alts. Just lvl your 40+ alts on one account and spam daily wins on all of them, done. There is one dude who does this everyday and is now already at 4700+ honor lvl, without premading.

In my own experience I always have 30% winrate without premades which is not rly possible to do daily on that many characters if I do it on single account. Yes I could spend few years passively grinding it on daily means, but I like to grind nonstop and obtain things very fast. This achieve don’t let me do it fast. Also I didn’t test how many honor yeld 20 lvl chars on trial account, but I know that if 80 lvl kills 80 lvl it yelds 16 honor. So I don’t even need Midnight expansion to make it real.

Well, my account is registered in sanctioned country (Belarus) so I bought War Within Collector’s Edition for 500 EUR and Midnight for 200 EUR cuz it’s only editions that had digital key to activate xD For me personally buying that many subs won’t be a problem, I would probably use friend’s help for that cuz he’s not sanctioned. Also was asking this question cuz not only me interested in fast obtaining honor levels, sounded for me like a good and fast idea if it wasn’t bannable :frowning:

I agree that’s stupid idea, this is also punishable and very risky even if someone gonna try, so I better stick with just grinding it legally, maybe we will have better options in future.

Blizzard AI GMs will seek and judge.:joy:

Good question, but I can ensure it is! Ask a GM?

Trust me, I’m not betting on Blizzard’s Paladin banhammer. I’m just quoting the rulebook they forgot exists.

Fair warning, though, Blizzard’s AI GMs are out there in a seek‑and‑destroy mode. Also, it’s fair to mention that my opinion about Blizzard’s AI is not verifiable evidence. Just saying!
