Items Tuning Incoming - 18 September

During scheduled weekly maintenance on September 18, we will adjust items that have been over- and under-performing in the first few days of The War Within Season 1.

Our goal is to get these changes out ahead of the first Great Vault of the season, to lower the impact on players’ gearing journey.

  • Ara-Kara Sacbrood - Primary stat reduced by 5%.
  • Burin of the Candle King - Absorb increased by 15%.
  • Cinderbrew Stein - Primary stat increased by 5%, absorb increased by 20%.
  • Cirral Concoctory - Effects increased by 5%.
  • Harvester’s Edict - Damage and Mastery effect increased by 5%.
  • Mereldar’s Toll - Versatility effect increased by 8%.
  • Overclocked Gear-A-Rang - On-use damage increased by 10%.
  • Refracting Aggression Module - Absorb increased by 25%.
  • Scrapsinger’s Symphony - Absorb increased by 15%.
  • Shadow-Binding Ritual Knife - Primary stat reduced by 5%.
  • Shining Arathor Insignia - Damage and healing reduced by 10%.
  • Sikran’s Endless Arsenal - Damage effects increased by 5%.
  • Spare Meat Hook and Bottled Flayedwing Toxin now correctly deal reduced damage for tank specializations.
  • Spymaster’s Web - Intellect on use reduced by 5%.
  • Swarmlord’s Authority - Absorb increased by 20%.
  • Tome of Light’s Devotion - Absorb and Armor increased by 15%.
  • Twin Fang Instruments - Damage increased by 8%.
  • Viscous Coaglam - Effect increased by 5%.

Our intent is to do these itemization tuning passes rarely, usually within the first week or so of a patch, and then take a more hands-off approach with room for a follow-up a few weeks after if any extreme outliers still exist unaddressed.

We’ve received feedback about the inconsistency in performance across Delves trinkets as a whole, and we will look to address them in a larger Delve-specific itemization sweep in the coming weeks.

Well, that´s something…

Please look at some of the delve trinkets while you’re at it.
So far my 584ilvl trinkets outperform 2/3 different 603 ilvl trinkets that dropped for me in bountiful delves, this should not be possible to have an ilvl difference that big, and still be a downgrade for you.

I even simmed for 606 ilvl, and the 584 ilvl ones were still stronger, no matter if single target or AOE.

The first trinket im refering to is “Abyssal Trap”.

Edit:
Another trinket with the exact same issue i just found is “Wildfire Wick”, but even worse of a downgade than Abyssal Trap.

I’d understand if those were guaranteed Warbound, so they’re serving kind of a “weak catchup gear” role, similar to how the Timerift trinkets felt in Dragonflight, but they’re soulbound, so they’re just an item in your inventory that reduces your valorstone upgrade cost (once you get another trinket) and nothing more.

Edit:
As of now, “Concoction: Kiss of Death” is the first one that is a slightly upgrade at least, but it’s still mindboggling to me how a 19-22 ilvl difference still seems to only make a difference of about + 1 - 3,3% dps (depending on single-/multitarget) for me. Especially with how awkward/somewhat risky the concoction is to use, since you need to keep track of the duration and turn it off again before it stuns(/probably kills) you (because the 5s stun duration is very likely to last through a mechanic)

No matter what you are doing coz you will never happy and it changes all the time. There is no reason or goal to do it and it is not perfect either. What is the point then?

You destroy trinkets for fun! Great job!

Wouldnt it make sense to not „look in a fee weeks“ or overhaul them them for the trinkets but at first?! Its the only „safe“ and easy source for trinkets right now, cause we ca basically farm them in delves. Im sitting on like 5 trinkets ilvl 603 right (6 if you count double poison one - yay) and it doesnt feel good to have them all knowing that some of them are basically crap.
So people would be more „rewarded“ right now for running those delves… in „a few weeks“ everyone and their cat has most of the other, then still better, trinkets anyway.

Reminder that Harvester’s Edict still drops for Subtlety Rogue, yet the trinket never procs and cannot even proc from Shuriken Toss. Either it should be removed from Rogue loot pool or be changed to proc from melee too please

Because this thread’s about items maybe?

Did you read the last paragraph?

Do you want an actual answer, or do you think you can deduct whether i did or not by yourself, or do you just generally always reply do people in questions?

But also “Inconsistency in performance” can mean different things. It can mean some just straight up don’t do what the text says, it can mean the numbers are off, it can mean some of them are bugged in some way.
