Yea, sure MMORPG. Its hard to find a way if developer beeing on a short leash and have the prio to make a game for the cash shop instead of the sake of a good game.
There still is SC and also Dreamhaven. But damn dude, thats a controversial topic for sure, too. And ages we gotta wait to see anything we can work with.
Same here I try to understand what is so catchy about but as I said up on post that game doesn’t make me connect at all .but I let a bit of space for a final opinion maybe later . Some one suggest me to lvl up bit by bit and make and opinion after lvl 30 will be much more engaging. But so fare nothing, and also no idea what is hype coz the game is loading screen after loading screen then when you go out of city is another loading screen that annoy me allot
The key is that an MMO or any other game after it’s become a success doesn’t try to “optimize profits”. Like if WoW makes awesome housing system and then puts 10% of housing items in a cash shop then it’s fine, but when cash shop is the source of majority of really good housing items then it’s really bad.
FF14 has the advantage of Japanese work culture. If players won’t like Endwalker they will take it more than personal. There was even a story of a dev that did not said anything about his cancer treatment because they were at work making next expansion. We can argue if its healthy but at least it’s a very hard dev-player responsibility.
Blizzard lost a lot of old devs to those new companies and overall. They fired a lot of support positions. We constantly hear that morale is super low. You have an typical underpayed game dev that likely doesn’t play the game and is there just for the work. If developers don’t play games they will never make good games.
And if the recent “leaks” are actually real and they have some sort of superiority complex or some are “woke” then IMHO they will refuse to admit their mistakes which means they will double down. They may even try to go woke/broke and force Asmon and alike quit the game.
WoW is in such a bad state that I can’t recommend it to anyone. I’m sure a lot of people feel that way. When someone asked me what games to check out I just said FF14 as the first example. It seems great, really. When Blizz decides it’s worth their time to stop doing the bare minimum, maybe then I’ll recommend this game again. I mean let’s just look at TBC Classic as an example:
No fresh servers despite massive demand
Paid boost and store mounts that no one asked for, just to get some short term profit at the expensve of the game’s integrity and the company’s reputation (I mean that ship has sailed a long time ago but yea)
Doesn’t even launch with features that original TBC had, like guild bank and some sort of LFG interface
Their “solution” to horde dominance is… horde vs horde BG’s? Instead of something like faction based queues
I also think that TBC is genuinely a really bad expansion, it feels like a weird middle-ground where it’s trying to be retail but it still has a lot of Classic features right like, PvP servers, class tier sets, etc. But it shows that an expansion with such a heavy focus on instances and without a proper LFG tool or x-realm play doesn’t work out so well. On Gehennas some people are trying to sell tank services for 100/200g (normal/heroic), not sure if anyone buys but that should give you an idea of the state of the game. So basically, bad expansion + bad decisions from the people that run it, makes for a bad experience, and apparently retail is not doing so hot either, so it makes sense that people are exploring other games, I myself have, and honestly, I only still play WoW because I have some days remaining on my sub lmao.
GB was added later in TBC but yes, they just could have launched with it.
IMHO faction queue would just create a lot of destruction. Would require free transfers, likely lots of PvE realms and so on. I would say there is no good solution.
Exactly that… final fantasy 14 has no world… no freedom really… you have your little maps you walk in and that’s it… want another zone?.. get through the loading again.
well that put me off a bit, i am not saying was completely destroy my immersion but it did. and i don’t like feel like i am on a little cage then go to the next zone is another cage.
as i said i wish i could see how it is on the bigger zone maybe the maps are bigger or maybe this is typically for starter zones no idea . but for a starter zone this little things put me off
but is no loading screen between this 2 zone, plus this 2 zone you mention it are extremely huge comparing with the one i am right now and put together the loading screen is a bit to much
Unfortenatly, in current state and situation, the more they lose, the less they care. There a lot of sights that they plan to milk out WoW and throw it out.
its pure game for casuals that have problems in hands and brain,or old people,or girls that like asian anime cosplay or smth…
ff14 exists for many years and suddenly everyone talk about it,AND ITS THA BEST ?
suddenly all streamers got bonus for playing it and people without a clue what a mmorpg is thing that is good? mate even lineage 2 pvp is better than ff14 mate, lineage 2 !!!
i give it a couple more months of hype and then its just another bladeandsoulterablackdesertonlineelderscrollsashesofcreationnewworldguildwarslineage2aion crappy game full of flashy things in the store and ofc. DEAD.
i must admit i played Lineage 2 and you right that game is hype as hack pvp is epic i use to play that game and is nowhere near FF game and is older then FF. as second tough also i think your right saying now just because streamers go there and hype about is make me wonder if they was not sponsor to do so. not saying they are but i could be, for me the explosion seams a bit how to say unreal i must say. but not also say the game FF doesn’t look good or is not good coz i have just lvl 11 but few things put me off then last thing some how i cannot connect with the game. some how is like i am an alien on another world.
I’ve just checked out of curiosity and saw a monthly 14.99$ sub… how is that “insane and a joke”? Or am I missing something? 14.99$ monthly for a MMO sounds perfectly fair to me, as long as no other MTX is involved.
