This is from an alliance perspective. So this event has been out now for a couple of weeks. As we probably all know by know is Horde rushes Stonehearth Bunker and caps it. Leaves a few people behind 'till it’s destroyed and takes Stonehearth Graveyard, so they have a spot to res closer to Alliance base. From there they move on to Icewing Bunker and finally Stormpike Graveyard and then make the final push. Resulting often in a win. Also killing the elites along the way so they won’t be a problem later on.
Now on Alliance, in the majority of the games i’ve been in, they rush Iceblood Tower and Tower Point. Trying to CC the elites. By the time they manage to cap one or two towers, the elite’s are still up, Horde come to defend and retake tower (with help from the un-cc-ed elite by then). Resulting in Alliance spawning back all the way at Stormpike Graveyard, because Horde has taken Stonehearth Graveyard by then. Resulting in a loss most of the time.
Now what i’m always wondering is, why, for crying out loud, Alliance never take a graveyard first? Be it Frostwolf or Iceblood, but at least so you can res close to Horde territory and don’t have to try and go through a massive wave of oncoming Horde. And why, oh why, don’t alliance just kill the elites??
Just had to get this of my chest, i’ve been getting frustrated the last couple of days when i started to level my Alliance characters. Eventhough the Alliance do seem to win a bit more than at the the start of the event
(Disclaimer, sometimes Snowfall Graveyard get’s capped by Alliance, but then Korrak kills you, or on the way back to enemy towers/graveyards the elite’s are still roaming around to one-shot you)
Alliance can not realy take the Gy first, in a way alliance would be better of to take the miniboss first, then take IB GY, then back track and take towers back, and a few go for horde towers, this forces horde to spawn at eighter Stoneheart or frostwolf, meening alliance have almost full control of the hole middle map, and horde can not realy do much about it. this meens horde is gona be up north or stuck at their own base, if up north alliance can then go back and take back SH gy, to force horde to get stormpike what meens horde is quite screwed becuse they now have to back track to get the towers back, where Alliance can pretty much just destroy most horde at dunbaldar becuse horde gets attacked from behind, and if alliance gets back stormpike then, horde is forced to spawn at their base, meening they are stuck for ever there, there is no way for them win now, though best is to force horde to spawn at frostwolf, becuse then horde is to far away from anything.
but alliance should never take IB before horde takes SH, becuse if you do that, you force horde instantly to spawn at their base and that again meens all horde would just come back and retake everything, becuse alliance would spawn at SH gy and be stuck, whit no way out.
Alliance used to take IB gy first but that often lead getting behind in rush games. Game is, after all, all about burning towers/bunkers as fast as possible and horde get’s HUGE headstart on that front. So alliance has lately started often to take IB tower first, just to keep on pace with sh bunker capping. Usually people do go to take IB gy after getting IB tower going though and when people play correctly, it works well. Unfortunately it just doesn’t always do. But in game sense, if you have to choose if you defend gy or tower cap, tower is usually priority because after it burns, it’s forever “yours” while gy fight can take infinite amount of time because it just changes owner and never gets destroyed.
I have always seen people kill elites when there is enough people in tower though. Only cases where elites are cc’ed is if there is not enough people there to kill the elite effectively. Have you ever even tried to keep that elite cc’ed when there is more than few people in the tower? Someone ALWAYS breaks the cc, causing whole tower to wipe.
Yes, that is exactly what i mean Usually after some fellow Alliance brings in some extra adds from outside. But it’s not just the elite in the tower, also those standing on the graveyards and the roaming abominations. Especially the one that can be controled by a DK… How many times i haven’t seem that one get loose and start wreaking havoc. Or the Orc elite near Iceblood graveyard getting pulled in…
This is my pet peeve nowadays. I go take tower solo, get 1-2 people coming after me to guard it and are carefull with cc’ed com. Then in runs someone with whole tail of npcs causing incredible chaos. Why are people so afraid to die’n’runback or run far enough to shake tail and then come in? They must understand that those 3 people standing in tower with com cc’ed cannot help with their tail and going there with extra npcs is no help what so ever for the bg goal.
Warlocks have some major power in this BG and they don’t seem to realise it thanks to gateways. They can put up gateways in the horde base skipping all the major choke points.
I have been keeping doing this with my lock on both sides while playing, specializing on ones where you can get into tower/bunker straight up. Amazingly few people actually use them.
^^ This drove me nuts. If you have half the map trailing you, do not take them up the tower. It does not help anyone. Don’t get me started on breaking the CC
Also OP Alliance are also very much up against the clock in Korrak AV. Taking the G/Y first usuallly puts you behind. If you can get a DK with a brain to take Grummus and start capping IB with some defenders while others move on to take g/y after the capping has started, you are usually in better form. Defending or coming to defend when incs are called were big problems on Alliance side.
Funny you should mention that, just finished a game that became Gridlocked after we wiped the Horde on Vanndar halfway through. Then they summoned Icyboi and we killed him, we summond Groot, and well Groot being Groot, that didn’t help much lol.
Spend around 2,5 hours in there and got over 4 and a half level. So that’s still pretty good in my book. On top of that a whole lot of honor, reputation and most importantly FUN!!!
Holy smoke, it was soo friggin’ awesome to see almost all alliance holding the Horde at bay until the bitter end! Eventhough it was a loss, I was amazed at the ferocity of this alliance group Just a glorious battle.
Having good battle where you are giving your 100% with your team feels great whether you win or lose. It is so much fun! I simply don’t understand anyone who goes there to be waste of space yelling “let them lose fast” and “alliance never wins”. Ofc these people never win, they are reason why we are losing in the first place. I would personally feel so bad if i would not try my best in team effort, whatever the odds are. I don’t understand how these people can do it.
In fact dont bring your mob conga to anybody! Last night I lost a GY to this. Some plopnugget collected every mob in the area and ran directly over the flag I was guarding! Of course all the guards aggroed and got killed, shortly followed by me (as I was solo there per usual) and the GY was instantly capped back.
Seems like its impossible to win for Alliance just coz its quicker for Horde. Just had a ‘perfect’ game on Alliance. Capped IB GY, got both towers at the same time and were neck and neck with Horde at last GY. They just always seem to be abit faster at the last bit.
IMO the best way to win on Alliance is a group of stealthers to take and hold a base tower and give you a headstart at the end.
As a rogue my only job is cap last two towers.
As a paladin I m God mod tank - don’t taunt off me you all other tank classes. “Luminance”
As DK just death grip healers - can repel any push.
Lock just dot dot and more dots or chaos bolts.
I know the feeling.
I rather just dungeon spam my way to level 120 then have to deal with the let them win crowd.
I noticed that whenever the alliance try to kill elite there damage output is so weak that paint dries faster.
I mean on the horde someone yelled scatter the npc and instantly the entire raid move the npc apart.
You do that on the alliance side you and you get at best ignored at worse you will be called forum vacation stuff.
This I can agree on.
Most of time on Ally side I see people afk intentionally. Few people just give up from start bcoz they never win. Rest smart people also give up bcoz of this.
To win as alliance side
Play objective
Don’t be late to cross field
Don’t defend but try to ninja cap
Fastest rush always win
Don’t do korak ever
Stay with group - even if you are hopeless player you might contribute to something.
Don’t try to Rambo - you can’t do 3 vs 30; it only happens in 300 movie.
Also korak xp matters from WoD expansion. Rest lvling through dungeons and quests is faster.
