Hi,

For about 3 weeks I have been suffering from regular lag spikes caused by intermittent high latency.

I have tried everything recommended in the connection troubleshooting page.

I ran a report through Battlenet Looking Glass but it means next to nothing to me. I have posted the results below in the hope that you can help me. As I am at my wits end trying to solve this issue.

I’ll do a quick explanation of what all those result mean.

When you connect to a server, the data follows a specific path to that server. Each line in each of the tests tells us how long it takes for a package of data to go from our servers to a specific in the path.

As you can see, all seems fine, with nothing going over 20 milliseconds, and the MTR shows a 0% package loss (that is, all packages sent returned).

So this Looking Glass didn’t capture the problem you are experiencing. For that reason I would like you to try a winMTR instead. It’s a more powerful connection test, and it goes from your router to our servers, as opposed to the Looking Glass test, but it’s read in pretty much the same way. Hopefully that will shine some light into the problem :slight_smile:

I may need you to run these again, since I see you had them running for a short time. The second column shows the packages sent to each node, and they are around 30. Preferably we would like to have a few hundred, or even a thousand or two.

With that being said, I’ll tell you what I can see so far.

Your router has latency spikes of up to 4 milliseconds. This is not too high, but still, it should be 0 or 1, so it’s worth trying to restart it:

This spreads down, so you can see that there’s around 4 milliseconds of difference between the average and worst answer times in each line, but we see an unusually high peak again at 195.66.226.234, where the average answer time is 16 milliseconds, but has spikes of up to 59, and next line up to 70.

So, other than your router, which again, would be a good idea to restart, I’m relatively sure that there’s an issue at 195.66.226.234 (and then it spreads down). If you run the test for longer, you’ll probably see even bigger spikes in this line. This is a node in the middle of the UK, so not much you or I can do about it directly, but you can call your ISP and with this information at hand, explain to them that when you are trying to connect to our servers (you can give any of our three IPs, as this node appears in the three tests), you see latency spikes on the node 195.66.226.234 during a winMTR test.

Thank you for your help I think I found the issue. My anti virus software had an anti track program running in the background. Once I turned that off my latency leveled out at the high 20s and low 30s

Is this something that might cause the issues I was having?
