For the love of god please remove the layers. this is soooo bad
youre the biggest sh it hole company on this planet. you told us to remove the layers after p1, so the most classic players thought:" oh ok, untill p1 we can handle it, then the open world pvp will get back" you added this layer now for arround 5 hours, and already is everyone hopping between the layers, on every layer is a lotus farm bot, and ofc. the dispell war is over… fy blizzard
Please remove layering for Golemagg, on peak times the queue was at max 30 minutes.
it’s amazing how a company doesn’t understand its customers, but even worse is that they don’t understand their own products.
Queues on Golemagg are like 30 minutes … Why are we included?
You created the problem by adding paid character transfers and to solve the problem YOU created you give us layering??? What a disgrace.
For the resource (lotus) problem (which you again created by allowing more players to compete for the same amount of resources as a vanilla server had back in the day) its simple: INCREASE THE SPAWN RATE OF NODES.
Unsubscribed, the game has too many major problems to justify paying for.
Honestly this is beyond embarrassing.
Five years ago some French nerds managed to run a server from their basement that can endure literally hundreds of players in the same zone with minimal lag, yet on official Blizzard servers if more than 100 players show up in the same area it is unplayable immediately.
To further point out how out of touch you guys are, let’s remember that you planned TWO EU PvP servers for Classic a month before launch, and now 8 months after release Blizzard still can’t deal with (not even high) population.
A literal **** show of a company, there is nothing else to be said really
I would have quit right away once I had read the post if not for my amazing guild. I can’t believe this company had screwed up every content release so far, and now they want to destroy even more, economy and community of every server with added layering. You had the data about the server transfers for months now. You could had prevented it long time ago with forced restrictions or closing off realms but you had decided to follow on greed (as you always do).
Better to get those free bucks from server transfers, right?
I play this game everyday for hours - I would rather have queues at the prime time than to have layering, even tho no one should defend your actions regarding that as well. The worst part is some “gamer dads” and “LE REDDITEKSDEE” folks are gonna praise you for implementing layering - like they always do. Those people love to cry about MUH LOTUS PRICES and other stuff that is only a problem thanks to their inability to adapt to server economy.
Also, Thank you so for disregarding all those guild that had spend time on locking down world bosses on their realms. Who cares about the fact I had spent MONTHS scouting for Kazzak for our coalition just so our guild get additional rolls for the shadow damage pants. Now you are gonna just spawn 2 more world bosses each for EVERY SERVER. Who cares about consequences in loot, right?
Another problem. You had been ignoring bots and gold sellers since they release of the game. I bet you are gonna do the same thing as you had done with china servers and add wow tokens. You are gonna use the same arguments - that it’s to combat the problem - but we all know what the real reason.
I normally don’t post on these forums since it’s mostly filled with retail-minded folks who don’t even play classic themselves but this time I really had to comment on this crap. Well, it’s not like you care in any form.
Blizz struggling with que and lag and a random russian dude with server in the basement could handle 10k easy without lag.
Just says how cheap servers they are using.
Currently us french players could really do with one or 2 more servers. It’s really clogged right now. And now new players have no possibility to play on a pve realm.
They did remove layering. I’m also pretty sure they never made a promise to never add it back. If you do, you can just cite that source.
Thank you for breaking our economy…
Servers are an interesting topic, but I’m pretty sure that server wasn’t in some random russian dude’s basement. Renting servers aren’t expensive.
FFS Blizzard u promised layers would be gone in phase 2, wth!
U screw up and now your going back on your promise cause u cant figure out how to fix the problem you created? What are u gonna do next? introduce mount store and wow tokens?
Thank you Blizzard
Another decision which can we mark as CLUELESS.
You are killing servers economy, a lot of players just lost thousands of golds. For what? You being greedy and lazy to deliver a resolution as always
Now we have to keep track of 3 layer worldbosses? 3 layers of world buffs ?
We did not WANT layers and you promised us to never bring layers back.
Russian basement servers were better than this in every aspect, from infrastructure to decision making.
Layering is a testament to Blizzards failure if they re-implement it.
Instead of taking each real issue and dealing with it by it’s own merits they simply want to put more people on each realm but split them up into different layers.
This does not fix bots.
This does not fix lag.
This does not fix spawnrates on Black Lotus, Plaguebloom and other non-instances materials.
This does not fix server balance.
Layering is a lazy, game breaking design flaw that is once again being trust upon us.
Possible solutions that will prove effective:
Add dynamic respawn on resources in world (lots of topics on this already) and increase the number of nodes. This will allow for servers with higher populations to behave the same as small servers in terms of resource per player.
Have some hands on people manually banning bots (i can at any point type in “Stratholme” and see who the bots are). It’s insanely easy to spot the majority of them. Ban bots for 6 months or permaban. No short duration bans.
Only allow free transfers from heavily populated realms faction specific. Show the number of people who are able to transfer and only allow them to be faction specific. Merge “dead” realms with other “dead” realms but only if the faction allows it, eg; A30/H70 could get merged with an A70/H30.
Lag is more complex to deal with. The approach is not the same as pservers (which I wish it was) and tbh, i think it’s too late to try that sort of approach atm anyway. Currently the method pservers like Elysium, Northdale used are just vasly superior for the player experience. I do not have a direct solution for this, however if the other issues are addressed accordingly, then this will also make lag a little more forgivable at the very least… even if its not ever going to be acceptable.
Layering, is NOT the answer. It is absolutely game breaking. So many of my interactions are going to be destroyed if this is implemented (and apparently it already has been on my server, Golemagg). I feel like Blizzard is trying really hard to destroy their game guys…
the reason why blizzard servers are this bad is because spell batching is server side and when a lot of people are in the same place casting spells it overload the spell batching system which causes lag and crashes.
Small Indie Company BTW.
Nostalrius died so these guys could make more money off a game they don’t care about.
Blizz Goon: Mr. Brack, it seems the players are still clinging to the delusion that they in fact do.
Brack slams table in anger
J. Allen Brack: Impossible! We’ve thrown everything we’ve got at them, poop servers, unchecked faction imbalance, nerfed raids, crap AV, spell batching and yet they still don’t understand that they DON’T.
Blizz Goon: Perhaps we should try introducing tokens, sir?
J. Allen Brack: No, I have a better idea.
Brack rubs his hands
J. Allen Brack: Bring back layering.
A sinister laugh echoes through Blizzard HQ
Can’t wait for blizzcon classic q/a panel
