Lor'themar and Thalyssra ?

It’s pretty cool to see these two characters appearing quite often in the story together.

Blizz is pushing the Blood Elf and Nightborne relations and so far it’s working quite good. Both sides benefit from one another and are helping each other.Quite a releaf to see some elves sticking together for a change.

How about Lor’themar and Thalyssra ? Many suggested Lady Liadrin could be Lor’themar’s other half but it would be interesting to see if Thalyssra would take the spot.

Lor’themar seems to be getting a long better with her then Liadrin.

PS : scout captain Elsia maybe a lil jelly.

Lor’themar and Thalyssra are just very good colleagues and in times like this, with Nazjatar, they would work closely together.

At this stage, Thalyssra and the Nightborne are seemingly still getting used to this changed Azeroth - remember, Thalyssra is over 10,000 years old and she was born a Highborne Night Elf. I can’t see her looking for a partner of a different race at this stage. Nor should she - the three memorable Nightborne characters, Thalyssra, Valtrois and Oculeth are better as individuals and not shackled to somebody.
We see this travesty with Tyrande and Malfurion.

I’d welcome that. Two of my favourite characters as well.

I think he is shown to be gettiing along better with Thalysra cause Normally Lorethemar basicly stays in Silvermoon While Liadrin is out there fighint got horde/silvermoon or training Blood Knights.
She works in field ,he stays in city most of time they cant often meat due their different jobs basicly and they each got their own priorites are very busy id imagine most of time. So Not much free time while being far away most of time they cant really do much together aleast that isnt for more political reasons.

The Lor’themar and Liadrin thing largely stems from a line of dialogue in ‘Blood of the Highborne’ from the ‘Paragons’ anthology. Bear in mind I read it in German, which is not my native tongue, but I’m good enough in it to know what ‘verheiratet’ means, and that Halduron, Lor’themar’s best buddy basically is saying, ‘You might well both get on with it and get married’. Now bear in mind also that he says this prior to the fall of Silvermoon (The novel jumps back and forth in time a lot), when Lor’themar is ‘just’ a Ranger-Lieutenant, (In fact he gets promoted to that rank during the novella, during the Second War, and Liadrin is ‘just’ another Priestess (The Blood Knights were not in existence yet, in fact again, the later parts of the book cover the actual founding of that order. )

Both of their wowpedia entries make mention they are mutually attracted, and Lor’themar’s cites the relevant info.

The reason the timing is important in Blood of the Highborn is that Lor’themar is a low ranked Farstrider Officer, and Liadrin is no one important, an orphaned Priestess, it seems neither is Noble, certainly not in Liadrin’s case, so Halduron wouldn’t be suggesting they married for any political or noble bloodline continuation, further implying that he was suggesting it because of their low-key romance.

Thalyssra however I think is just clinging to the people she knows best, who welcomed her people and brought her into the Horde. She does repeatedly seem to take her cues on what to do from Lor’themar, but heck, he’s been both a ruler, and a leader in the Horde longer than she has, and well, they are -practically- the same people, given the ancestry of the Sin’dorei. She is not a simpering lackey however, and has argued points with Lor’themar, and gotten him to change his mind (I won’t say over what, as that is potentially spoilers, but if you do want to know it is detailed in Lor’themar’s Wowpedia page, and cites the in game dialogue where it happens)

Essentially, I’m pretty sure that Lor’themar and Thalyssra are just very good friends, whose people have more in common with each other, than with the rest of the Horde.

First he gets all friendly with Jaina, then he decided to breed with an inferior race and produce some halfbreed bastard as his successor?

If that happens he should be overthrown within the week.

Thalyssra herself isn’t that great either as far as rulers go, she doesn’t seem to be able to make any decision for herself and she’s been clinging to Lor’themar’s skirt since she joined the Horde.

She is still getting used to this changed Azeroth and the Horde.

Give the girl a break - she has spent 10,000 years under a bubble, lead a rebellion shortly afterwards and then, once all that was sorted, reached out to join the Night Elves, but was rejected.

She is actually a very…patient leader, whom seeks to do right by her people and be accepted in both the Horde and towards Azeroth. With what she has been through only recently, she is one of the Horde’s leaders, who wants to show commitment for her faction and the ideals sold to her, by Liadrin and Lor’themar, but also doing right by Azeroth.
More recently, it was Lor’themar seeking Thalyssra’s council. Thalyssra sought Lor’themar’s council after Zelling was killed, which is reasonable. Was she sold a lie, upon joining the Horde? She needed reassurance on that, as she already saw the destruction that Azshara and Elisande wrought.
They work off each other, which shows the a deep level of friendship between Shal’dorei and Sin’dorei.

But obviously, you stink of bias so we wont continue this conversation any further.

Err…what? At its most, and I mean -most- tenuous you could describe Lor’themar and Jaina as Frenemies, and that really is stretching the term…

As to breeding with an inferior race, what are you on about? Lor’themar doesn’t have any children, half breed or not, in fact it is clearly stated that he is -not- interested in trying to set up a dynasty. -He- has a job to do, and he will do it until he dies or they find someone better, as the quote goes. He has no thoughts of any successor being a child of his as…he doesn’t -have- any. Apart from anything else, where does the half-breed bit come into it? He’s into Liadrin, and she’s into Him, last I checked they were both Blood Elves.

Did you read anyone else’s posts before responding? I’m being gently chiding, not passive aggressive.

Thalyssra is actually a similar personality type to Lor’themar, she is also exposed to a world that has -vastly- changed since she left her bubble. It is a confusing time for her, so the only responsible thing for her to do is to hang out with another Elven ruler till she finds her bearings. Consider all the changes that she would not have been aware of until just now;

Humans? What are they then?
Dwarves? Who? Never heard of them.
Gnomes? For real? Who?
Draenei? So actual aliens…from outer space? Yeah, right. Oh, you’re serious?
Worgen? I know some of the Druids were into some whacky shiz, but a whole nation of human lycanthropes? Really?

Orcs? What, another race of Alien invaders, brought here by the same powers that almost destroyed our world, and they’re on -our- side? Seriously?
Trolls? Wait a minute, last I saw of these people we were in bitter war with them and overthrowing their Empires left right and centre, also, aren’t these Darkspear a little small for Trolls? Are you sure they’re Trolls? Now the Zandalari, -they- look like the Trolls we remember.
Tauren? Thank goodness, finally, a race that I remember!
Goblins? What the Actual…I mean what the…what -are- these things?
Blood Elves? Oh, wow, they…look a bit like us, and they’re being nice, and they are being helpful, Lets chill with them until we learn how this all works…

Thalyssra is the model of a -sensible- and prudent leader. She has 10,000 years of world history to catch up on, and the only people willing to help her are Lor’themar, Liadrin and co, Blood Elf PLC. WHo is she going to listen to, if not them?
She can, and does have her own opinions on stuff, as I mentioned, and she can put them across firmly and well enough that Lorthy goes “Hmm, know what, you have a good point” and changes his mind.

Just have a think, about how confusing you would find the world, if you came from 10,000 years ago, into our modern world today.

What would have changed?

-EVERYTHING-

This alphabet we’re typing in wouldn’t exist, that was what, just over 2,000 years ago. oh, and the numbers, we only started using the Arabian numeral system about a thousand years or so ago, or M years ago if you want to use what we did prior to that. Of the current nations, their vicissitudes, how they came to be and the wars they fought, what would you know?

Nothing.

Not a Godsdamned thing. None of our nations existed 10,000 years ago. The physical landmasses did, but the body politics that exist currently? Nope. Not a single one.

Metal? What the heck is that?
Oh wait, this ‘Metal’ is so strong but you can shape it? Yeah, right.
How do you make the Hot Orange Wobbly Thing happen? We find it sometimes when Lightning strikes trees, and it is really useful, because we’ve found if you put meat near it, it tastes better after a while, than when raw, but we’re still not that sure how this process works.

Wait, there are still people in the world who believe in only one God? And…they build stone prisons to try and trap their Gods?

What are these Golems that flash around at random, sometimes dormant, sometimes at speeds faster than is possible, that are lethal if they strike you!

What magic is this, that allows Metal (Whatever that is) to float on water, and even moreso, to allow it to soar in the skies!

How did we learn to split something that by its very name, ‘Atom’ means ‘cannot be cut’ and in so doing end the world with the press of a button?

You get the picture…

After 10,000 years of isolation, don’t you think you would -want- a friendly helping hand to assist you in coming up to speed with things?

Do we really want another Tyrande/Malfurion?

please more war, less love before the craft…

We have loyal 'till the end husband & wive love in person of Tyrande & Malfurion, edgy unfulfilled love between Sylvanas & Nathy and weird fantasies from Thrall & Jaina in last Cinematic…

Rather than being Mana Junkies who then speedball the hard stuff with a syringe to the eyeball, right?

I don’t think they -need- them, plus they already exist. They don’t need them, they just need to be seen as a normal thing if they do crop up. That’s what equality means. We don’t -need- more Het couples in game, but if seen, they’re normal (Unless its the bloody Trashrunners, No that is not a cross racial relationship, that is cross Species, That is what we would today class as -Bestiality-), so eh, let it be the same for LGBT couples, as it kind of is implied that it is.

-No One- needs another Tyrande/Malfurion. Even Tyrande and Malfurion don’t need another Tyrande and Malfurion.

Real Romance doesn’t work that way, You do the deep mushy stuff when courting, or when writing a Valentine’s Day card, or on your anniversary in private, the rest of the time, in front of others, you are ragging on each other in a gentle way.
Most believable romance (If they were the same species) Kelsey Steelspark and Jon J Keeshan. Although Gnomes and Humans have married before, as we see in Scholozar Basin so, ehh…

As for Nathanos and Sylvanas being unfulfilled, I…really doubt that. Unless Sylvanas is an -absolute- Sex Pest of a boss, I’m pretty sure her and Nathanos were a thing. I mean she is constantly stroking him during Dark Mirror, I mean if they weren’t a thing, and I was him, and not into her I’d be like “You know what, it’s not the rest of the Farstriders being mean to me, its not even Lor’themar being mean to me, it’s you! You just creep me out woman! Where in the Farstrider Order rules does it say that the Ranger-General can get as touchy feely as they like and you get to say nothing? It Doesn’t! Because that Isn’t a Thing! So Stop Touching Me!” Or, the alternative, is that they were a thing, and it was a lover consoling their partner. Which…makes much more sense, as much as the idea of a third Trashrunner succumbing to the family kink makes me a little bit sick in my throat.

Thank heavens Shandris isn’t becoming like them!
Nor is Maiev or Jarod. The Night Elves do have some hope.

Just because Tyrande and Malfurion were written horribly doesn’t mean another couple can’t have a proper development.

Lor’themar and Thalyssra could be interesting.

I wonder if Silvermoon is ever restored if it’s gonna incorporate some Nightborne architecture or have Nightborne NPC’s roaming around.

It can (but it shouldn’t) and it does. The Blood Elves’ Highborne ancestors created a very different theme than their Night Elf cousins and it should remain that way.
I also say that no Silvermoon architecture should be in Suramar either.

They are two nations on good terms with each other, that’s it. It’s a bit like the UK and the USA.

Also, you see Nightborne travellers walking the halls of Silvermoon.

i think full on buildings shouldnt be but maybe a small nightborne encampment/tower in the forest near silvermoon?

Why do people feel the need to ship characters at all?

Same reason why they enjoy romance stories. I’m a sucker for love stories because love, both real and fictional, warms my heart. It’s a nice feeling to have.

Lor’themar and Thalyssra sounds like a pretty cute ship. I fully approve!
