So I’ve collected all I could find and the achievement has been been awarded.
Went to the vendor npc to buy all 12 items at the cost of x10 each and by the time I had reached the last epic mount on the second vendor page I had noticed I am missing x1 currency.
Couldn’t refund any of the lower valued purchases such as decor or transmogs and I am now stuck with x9 currency with no more Moths on the map to click on.
The Moths spawn in three sets as you progress through Renown so it is difficult to determine which out of 120 is bugged and did not grant Luminous Dust.
Support said the team is aware of the bug but sent me to the forums to upvote any mention of it. Not sure why they sent me to the US thread when there is one for EU as well. There was workaround suggested but that’s only if you want to go around gathering 120 moths again from an alt and then transfer the 1 dust you gett off of it to your main or vice versa
The bug occurs when you loot a Moth, but don’t loot the dust itself (because you forgot to, or because the auto loot failed to loot it). Unfortunately, the only solution is to find which Moth you need to loot.
I think the actual problem might be in the first Moth looted on the account. Instead of providing +1 currency it gives you a blue quality quest starter item which leads you to the vendor. This means whichever Moth out of primary set of 40 you loot first is the bugged Moth in question, so it might not be case of one entirely random Moth bugging out to server lag or something.
But I can’t reliably verify this any more because repeat attempts at looting on alts give vendor trash instead of currency.
There are simply no more Moths to be found and wowhead comments seem to agree.
While the Moths were still providing Luminous Dust they were showing on the minimap as treasure chest icons, but now on main and all alts they’re showing as blue orbs and so far each one has only given vendor trash instead of currency. I have Renown 11 which enables me to see all 3 sets of Moths on my minimap (3 x 40 for 120).
I have checked even inside of caves but unlike Handynotes pins and such, default object pins from the game aren’t subject to restrictions of a layered map or tiered-terrain, so there’s no room for the final unlooted Moth to hide.
Extra homework. The popular Handynotes:Midnight addon treats all world map Moth pins as account wide flagged, meaning your alts won’t see any of them on map unless you toggle SHOW COMPLETED; but then it is hard to organize which you have revisited or not.
This one in combination with TomTom will place CHARACTER SPECIFIC PINS for Moths, but only for those you have not collected yet. One of my stubborn friends had visited all 120 moths again on a fresh alt and he didn’t get that single missing Luminous Dust.
This is not only frustrating but time consuming as well.
Spawn one extra Moth near the vendor for us, please.
I’m still x1 of the currency short but today the Moths are no longer visible on the map for any character under the bnet account that has earned the achievement.
Something is actively changing and will check later to see full implementation of the solution
Please keep us posted on any progress or update. I cannot seem to be able to resolve this using alts either, all I keep getting from those moth is a grey quality dust on any alt. Thanks!
On the topic of these moths. I think I have looted a couple on an alt, before it went live that the progress was shared, but the blue dots for the moths still show up on my map. OR the moths that should be there aren’t there. Is this a known issue? i’m at 75/80 Dust (still having to get to renown 11)
Just now ran into the issue where Moth didn’t give any dust and simply disappeared, but counted towards the achievement.
1 Dust short from being able to buy everything. Thought that it’d be safe to collect them now after seeing Blue post about issue being fixed, but apparently it can still bug out.
Edit: Re-log afterwards seemed to awaken the postmaster, and got the currency from there.
Please in detail, which one, it would help with troubleshooting if other players had problem with a specific Moth as well.
Still waiting for a solution to pre-hotfix 119. Players who have failed prior can do nothing about it anymore. It is out of our hands.
We already know that price discounts are possible with progress in reputation tiers so if Moths are creating headaches for the development team, just make it so that the x120 achievement drops vendor prices of all items to zero.
There’s even newer examples of this with the paint artist in Murder Row who drops the item price from gold cap down to 999 if you present certain items to him (what we call a trigger). Leftover currency may remain in the character but no one cares because all item on the vendor are tagged as SINGLE PURCHASE only.

All I know is that another player had just visited the location and started flying as I landed there, being unable to obtain the Dust myself. No idea if they got one.
any update on this? I seem to have joined the group of people waiting on a fix… checking with mothwaypoints addon, I can see that I’m missing moth 115 but it is not found at the location
Is this going anywhere? Normally no one would care over losing out on a piece of furniture but it’s likely that after glancing over the vendor and realizing everything adds up to 120 even before even collecting all the Moths by hand, you’re further made assured after seeing the achievement pop up that you can buy everything the vendor has to offer without any worries of having to add the numbers in your head to double check if you can actually afford all the goods.
Naturally you proceed buying everything from the first page before moving on to the second page. By the time you reach the second page and last item - the flying mount - you notice how you are 1 currency short.
There’s a currency counter below but it is so small you often can’t even recognize the icons. After seeing the achievement for 120 you’re not even paying attention to it.

Can’t buy the last missing item.
So now, either you give me that 1 dust, have the mobs respawn so i can gather it myself, or give me the missing transmog (staff). And don’t say you can’t do either, because you sure as hell CAN. No excuses.
As of 24 March 2026, this issue is STILL NOT FIXED. Finished up the last 20 or so moths last night, got the achievement, but still missing 1 dust. not in mailbox either.
Could be the first moth being an issue seeing as it gave a quest item only, but no actual currency.
Moths cannot be seen nor collected on alts, sadly. Once a month is gone, it’s gone. and all my 120 moths are looted.
Also, forums are still clowning around too. Not letting me select my RETAIL chars as profiles.
