If one plays games only for rewards while not enjoying the journey then I call it mental illness.
Yeah, there are many reasons to do it. Even if it is arduous at the time, the hit upon completing it makes it worthwhile, and then the rewards too.
Thats where i went wrong then - i just barrelled straight down the middle. Your advice has been taken on board for next time, cheers
I think we all were there once
it was developed whit E sport in mind so the ‘‘fun factor’’ was never in it.
LoL is e-sport too, but playing those champions is fun, for me at least I remember focusing too much on ladder, when I chilled out and focused just on having fun I suddenly started win more games. Good times
Please, no Preach slander in my threads.
He genuinely made some of the best WoW content in the game. Although I will admit he did fall off slightly when he got too involved with the RWF and didn´t play as much because he became somewhat out of touch with the general playerbase.
I will say that a lot of content creators seem to praise DF a lot but not play the game too much? Like, if the launch was that good wouldn´t you be in a rush to play loads of alts? In Legion I still feel like I missed out on so much of the content because I only really played 3 characters. In BFA I played 2-3 different characters and feel like I missed out on so many alts during the corruption patch (which I loved).
Don´t get me wrong, I completely get enjoying playing only one character and then being ´´done´´ after getting KSM and heroic raid achievement, but I feel like when WoW is good it always leaves you wanting to play more?
Also on the thread in general please only mention Dota (the good and awesome) Moba and not the abomination known as LoL where you can´t even deny (yes I am Moba gatekeeping).
Not saying he didnt make great content, but I can criticise him .
I just thought that was a bit odd, apart from that I’m also fairly content with DF.
i mean you could have watch one of hundreds guides on youtube ?
but no better complain about toxic people in pugs
Some of the biggest complaints was that people felt some fomo pressure on doing everything everyday to not miss out on the current expacs Apathy Powers so from that perspective it makes sense that people can now play less while enjoying the game more.
All they did was remove the hoops that were in place before actual group content that leads to higher gear
So yes playtime is down but quality of time spent is way up
I believe thats also reflected in the increased retention numbers.
Idk why people worry about the fact that that people play less in DF, ofcourse they do, do you fully grasp just how much mandatory BS people didnt enjoy but felt forced to do in order to be viable in content they did enjoy was scrapped?
No more Apathy power grinds, no more conduits at varying ilvls, no more legendary grinds locked behind exclusively experimental and unenjoyable gamecontent.
They cut off the dead weight for doing content. In DF its just get gear and go, legion/bfa/shadowlands had you going through unfun hoops just so they could fluff their engagement stats for shareholders who probably dont even grasp these terms beyond high number good.
Unlike you who sits at home watching YouTube I work 10h every day, I spend 2 hours driving back and forth, I have to cook and enjoy the game.
If I’d watch YouTube for every single dungeon I’d better just quit the game.
But don’t worry mate. I’m learning by being shout and addressed as a f-ing idiot.
I instead try to understand why a player died and try to correct it. That’s why people call me idiot. I’m not like you.
then maybe change job ? i recomend working form home office . you can work and post here coments / watch youtube guides all this while "working "

no Preach slander in my threads.
He moaned that he didnt get invited to a conference in the US after he got banned for 3 days (anyone else it would have been a perm ban) doing an exploit which he posted in a vid knowing it was wrong.
He is a toxic elitish and still leaving on his mems from being a method player and wasnt even that good back then.
Constantly retire’s and makes endless come back’s he is on the same level as Belluar as the worse WoW content maker there is.
Maybe you are right on this one. I keep using the Nighthold Preach video to show how he called out the falling raid player numbers with harder content.
But after re-watching this video from him, yikes just atrocious takes. Ironic, I thought this video would prove he actually somewhat empathizes with casuals, but came away with the complete different view.
The worst take is that player should not be able to outgear content.
Like, doesn´t Preach literally advise game companies on how to create games? Does he not understand that the entire success of games like Diablo and WoW have been based on outgearing content. Does he not understand that the reason the Dark Souls games are so much more popular than Sekiro (my personal favourite), is the ability to 1) outgear 2) outlevel 3) Out-summon content?
Also really awful take with the entire H Razageth situation, where actually having titanforging would have meant the tuning would have been okay-ish, because people would have been sitting in Titanforging gear right now without ever setting foot in M+ content.
This is loosely quoted from the video and is regarding the Tsulong fight
Preach:
Never once heard of this happening, given the nature of what I make on Youtube and the amount of people who come to me, I can say this honestly, never heard of this happening.
The idea was that guilds were stuck on a boss, they killed everything before that multiple times, everyone has all the gear they can get from the previous bosses and they can´t kill the final boss (Zulong)
These guilds, farming the same bosses all over, disenchanting all the gear and being unable to do Zhulong
I´ve never heard of this happening
Like this is the EXACT SITUATION WE ARE IN WITH HEROIC RAZAGETH. Blizzard even need to introduce this weirdo .7 borrowed power system so players can actually deal with the HPS / DPS checks. Meanwhile in Preach video, he pretends this just never happened in the history of WoW.
He has always cared for the top % of players , his recent trip to US to showcase things is very aimed at what he wants not what the avg player wants.

I know he has mostly cared about the top players, but I have not watched all his videos, and I was honestly kinda shocked with the titanforging video, because almost every take of his is straight up terrible, and we see the effects from this right now in the current game.
One thing that is very funny to me though, is that Blizzard basically catered to someone like Preach 100 % with Dragonflight, and now he kinda stopped playing WoW. Roflmao.
He also seems to not have done a single mythic raid boss… Like, maybe if you used to be a RWF player, and now u don´t even do a single mythic raiding boss, barely play the game, then… There might be a problem with the game? Some introspection maybe?
I mean how many Mythic raiders are there even left at this point?
M+ are not fun for me for two reasons: 1) M+ leavers. I believe it’s the cancer of wow and they make the game toxic. Also if you dare to complain, they shout to you that you need to play better (Cause of course they think that are better than you) and 2) M+ loot for the time an effort it’s too low. It’s like you are going to get in a key, play and finish it. People will start to leave after one wipe and you need to start over with another group again.

and you wonder why people leave your keys ?
dont do keys above your skills and nobody will be leaving. or pay with gold for boost
I think one of the things that has changed drastically in dungeoning is the timing and the time spent in a dungeon.
First the latter, a Classic BRD full run could take up to several hours, and is imo still one of the best dungeons ever created in WoW in its original Classic version. It took so much time, ppl actually chatted amongst them, got to know each other a little bit.
Now, it’s not rare to queue for a dungeon and no one says a single word and just leaves the dungeon at the end. The social aspect is out the door completely sometimes.
The former, dungeons could always be hard, even in Classic, but they used to be more forgiving. It didn’t have any of those split second insta-kill mechanics, like a mob in a pack doing a frontal cone attack you’re barely seeing through all the other spell clutter, oneshotting you because the tank repositioned, you saw it a second late and you ate the 1.5s cast time frontal.
There never used to be a reason for UI’s to have all the info in the center of the screen, like you see all the “better” players have. On a default UI, just looking at your hp bar in the top left corner of your screen, is enough time to get you killed if something went off at that exact moment. You lost 0.5s of reaction time and too bad, you got clipped by some insta-kill mechanic. You’ll say “but no one who does high keys has default UI”, and therein lies the rub. High M+ is not for everyone.
I’m also an older player, my reaction time is already 30% slower than when I was in my twenties. It’s just a fact of life, all you young bucks will face in time too.
Dungeons used to be hard, but let you recover from mistakes if played well. Now, mistakes mean you’re dead.
Also, the amount of stuff happening in a 10 second timeframe is incredible. I used to be able to enjoy the fight, looking around, seeing what other players do. Now, I hardly have time to watch out for myself. High M+ combat is like a rapid fire QTE, miss one input and you’re likely dead.
Maybe, the difficulty should be achieved differently? Instead of +1000% dmg and hp on mobs, they should add more difficult packs, that need proper cc, add tasks to the fight (affixes would be more manageable if the fights weren’t so hectic to start with), bosses could have an added phase, etc…
High M+ is a twitchy activity, that’s why most people rail against it. Maybe M+ should remain like this, but then there needs to be other content for people that want to enjoy the game and still feel like they are making progress on their character.
You simply disagree with the dude on a single topic, that’s it.
I know you praise titanforging as the holy grail of casual gameplay but as a casual (look at my armory profile if you don’t believe me) it completely killed any and all interest in the game I had when it was here. If I did a single dungeon in a month it was a lot. I completely checked out of gameplay and only did RP instead.
Now that its gone and with the changes to dragonflight with borrowed power the game feels worthwhile to play again in my opinion.
Like everyone elses, your opinion is at the end of the day just that; an opinion
At the end of the day we can only assume that the choice to remove it was based off of numbers they had access too in terms of how it affected retention, but unless they ever elaborate on that itself everything is just speculation there.
