I looked through the Agent longs and found:
[E 2023-08-18 17:05:15.0702] [tact] cURL request failed with 28 : Timeout was reached
[E 2023-08-18 17:05:15.0702] [tact] Download request for cc8d956cd3786ebad7e258c9629d271b(0, 0) failed with HTTP code -1\
repeatedly.
I connected to a hotspot on my phone and it worked.

Here is what worked (and also what DIDN’T work at first) for me:
Disclaimer: Brand new M1 Pro 14", Ventura 13.5. First time Mac user, so it took me a while to figure simple things out.
What I tried and DIDN’T work:
- Fresh install (directly downloading WoW), one of the first few programs I downloaded at all.
- Fresh re-install after deleting everything. This time I gave both ‘battle’ and ‘agent’ access (I had to manually type and search for the agent, otherwise it wouldn’t show up) - Also no difference.
- Deleted all data files as I had seen in the US forums while repeating 2) and also force quitting the Agents that kept eating through my CPU as soon as they came up. I did this many times- Also no success.
- “Manually” downloading Rosetta 2 again, even though I couldn’t really delete it (I couldn’t find it, so I just deleted the whole game and followed some steps I found on google to reinstall rosetta 2 before reinstalling WoW). - No difference
What finally did the trick was:
- No reinstalling. I just activated the beta version of the battlenet client and started updating the game again.
- While it started, I casually opened the access window which showed both Battle and Agent with full permissions, like previously BUT there was also a new option to toggle on something called “Relauncher”. I had read about this one in the US forums but I couldn’t find it before, but this time it was just there out of nowhere. I gave it permission just in case and once I checked the client again, IT WAS FINALLY UPDATING CORRECTLY (as in downloading data instead of just freezing at “initializing”.
I finally got to experience Valdrakken without any stuttering thanks to this beautiful machine.
Mind you, I never restarted my Macbook. That classic trick may work for some Windows problems, but it usually isn’t the case for Macbooks (this is something I have read on the internet, not sure how true it is). It was nice to finally get it to work and completely ignoring Blizzards first suggestions to restart everything, lol.
I hope this helps!

I try everything from here but cant install Wotlk classic. If someone can upload installed version of Wotlk Classic I will be grateful if give me link. Discord: adamirus
Hey mate, I sent you a request on discord check it out ! Bertrand#5596
Nothing worked for me, except uninstalling and reinstalling both the app and game at a different location:
-
I uninstalled the Battle.net app using AppCleaner (it may also work with a regular uninstall, I’m not sure) and deleted the World of Warcraft folder from Applications.
-
Then I installed the Battle.net app in a different folder. I’ve created a new folder Games in my HD drive > Users > [myuser]
-
I installed the game at the same custom folder, not in the Applications: HD drive > Users > [myuser] > Games > World of Warcraft
Hope this helps someone.

I’ve spent about 20 hours trying to troubleshoot this and getting nowhere. Kind of crazy that this has been a problem since mid-june, here we are - mid september.
It seems most people who’s gotten their hands on the actual game files have been able to run the game fine, the problem is getting them.
So - why can’t blizzard just chuck the correct files in a dropbox while they work to fix their launcher?
Also, if someone has the Wotlk classic PTR files, I’d love to not miss my PTR raid on Sunday. Not being able to download the game files is on the list of most stupid excuses I’ve heard to not being able to attend raid.

Just a heads up. Like 5 minutes ago, Classic PTR got a new patch and I can now suddenly uninstall and re-install at will, with the correct files that I can login no problem. Seems completely solved.
If you’ve struggled in the past, maybe check if that is the case for you too.
I spend 3 days trying to install it and play with every possible solution without success,
Oh thanks God, i’m not sure what happed but the downloading has started!
I recently got a new macbook (first time mac user) and was struggling with this. Still no solution but I’m glad it wasn’t some trivial error on my part due to inexperience.
Still I find it unbelievable that this is not fixed yet. I will try moving the files from my Windows computer to see if it works…
after many many failed attempts since jun, I successfully downloaded classic era and wotlk clients today using the beta battle.net app
Hey Guys, also wanted to share my solution here. Had the same problem for weeks now. Yesterday I just tried to download Heartstone and it worked. After that I tried to download WoW Classic, it also worked. And after that I tried to download WoW Retail and, don’t ask my why, it finally also worked. Maybe I was just lucky. I wanted to tell you guys anyways, maybe it helps.

Finally got WoW: Classic Era to install on my M1 Pro MacBook Pro, running macOS Sonoma. Talk about making a complete mess out of things. Why on earth hasn’t the Battle.net launcher been updated to support ARM/Apple Silicon? Not even the BETA version is running natively on Apple Silicon. How come a massive company like Activision-Blizzard is incapable of running natively under Apple Silicon? It’s been three years since it was released for public use…
It’s finally working. I was able to install Dragonflight and WotLK Classic and Classic Era on my Macbook Pro M1 Pro
Hey everyone
Just had this issue myself - had to uninstall wow to free up space on ssd for bg3 and couldn’t reinstall after finishing bg3.
I have some insights for someone tackling this:
- don’t waste time on any permission stuff, blue posts or whatever they don’t do jack
- if you have a copy of indicies data around - it will save you time, if you don’t your best bet is to download ±220mb of the indicies data for classic
- the path will be with hurdles and install will be interrupted numerous times (depends on your luck and blizzard servers mostly)
- when install stops, follow this steps
- open Activity Monitor util
- kill Battle.net.app first
- then kill Agent.app (has same bnet icon),
- then delete /Users/Shared/Battle.net/Agent folder
- open Battle.net.app and go to classic
- the button should be Install again
- locate the game
- click update
those will give you most progress so fewer attempts to make
any permission-related ‘solutions’ were most likely just last ditch before finally breaking through those indicies download
