Mage tower is best way to lose all gold

Did couple of tries, lost 500 gold already for repairs.

NO THANKS

Guess thats the upside of the healer challenge, its not me who dies but the npc’s, so i dont get such steep repair bills

I agree. It is just stupid.

I was spending like 400g every 25 minutes or so on repairs. Why do we need to get durability loss for this? Why?

Not to mention the costs of consumables.

Rofl, you are here whining for 500 gold? I probably spent close to 60k already to consumables, gear, enchants, gems, drums etc etc…

5/7 though, really close on Xylem, and not even close on healer one. Both severely overtuned though if you ask me.

I only play one now

No azerite armor nor essence kinda removed the intresting part of playing 10 000 classes  i liked to make stupid builds like stacking tradewinds

But that meme will always have a special place in my heart

My point still stands

Yeah i was just jesting with you :grinning_face_with_smiling_eyes:

You’re a jest!

Yes this game is pay2win now because to do content you need to insert more money for tokens. Not even surprised they did it like that.

Lost 500 gold in total, not doing any more mage tower until they remove durability loss (if it happens). It’s just burning money right now. No, I’m not super poor (at 90k atm) but it’s hard earned gold so I value it.

What rubbish.

You can get 2k gold in 15 minutes. Whining that you spent 500 on repairs and calling it p2w is idiocy. Kinda par for the course with your threads.

I don’t want to do 15 minutes of boring content just to run 5 tries to mage tower and repair after.

Because I stopped immediately. As somebody said above it’s easy to spend more than 1k per hour, so unless you are super good and skilled and manage to win mage tower in first tries you’re going to go bankrupt in couple of days (average player doesn’t have bot armies that generate infinite gold).
And ‘not winning’ means pressing one wrong button or not pressing button at right time, or having something on cd, or using wrong talent, or so on. Every such mistake will cost 100+ gold. It’s like a casino but where you keep placing bets on yourself, with terrible odds.
And, fun fact, to improve you’ll need to try more and pay more, and nobody knows for how long and how much gold you’ll lose before you beat it (if at all).
If we compare it to M+ then there is durability loss too, but M+ is long and you can’t die every minute unlike mage tower (and even if it happens then people leave instantly and it’s over so you can’t die more).

You probably need to be smarter with gold if the repair costs are what bankrupt you. Or alternatively you’re a very new player at which point I wouldn’t recommend mage tower anyway because you’re unlikely to be able to do it.

You mean I need to run bot army? Or buy tokens? Or grind stuff 24/7?
What if I have only several hours per day to play?

That’s nice logic, so how are new players supposed to become experienced if they can’t practice mage tower due to repair costs?

I’ve never had problems with repair costs, even when I was a “casual” player. Even at my poorest I’ve had 20-30k gold in reserve. If your situation is different, you’re either not playing the game at all or using your gold on pointless stuff.

Next point: it is pointless to even attempt mage tower if you don’t even know how your spec works yet. Get some experience in PvE content and learn your rotation properly. And hey, sure, you can try the mage tower challenge as well. But don’t come complaining that you’ve lost all your gold in the progress if you’re not even close to doing the challenge. Also, it goes back around to the first point.

Same, until mage tower. Mage tower resembles old casino machines where you insert coin, try and lose, and then you need to insert more coins. The only way to become good is inserting a lot of coins first.

Being 2.2k in arenas I’m pretty sure I do.

It’s not rotation, it’s just that in mage tower I get oneshotted by any random thing (unless I do everything 100% perfectly which takes time and tons of gold to learn).
You can’t learn to play mage tower by playing something else, what kind of bs argument was that?

If you’re seriously claiming that you know your spec well but still lose all your gold in the mage tower challenge, something is wrong. Either you’ve overestimated how good you’re at the game or you had about 1k gold before this. I’ve got nothing else to say.

Because it’s super hard and there’s literally just one specific ability sequence to survive?
And part of why it’s super hard is because practicing there is super expensive so I don’t want to do it at these costs.
And yes, losing 1k gold per hour IS expensive (that’s not even counting consumables).
I don’t know exactly how hard it is because I tried 4 times and then gave up seeing gold burned away by repairs. So could be 10 tries, could be 100 tries or never until I would have beaten it, but it’s not worth the gambling. Every try is ~150 gold so 100 tries would cost 15k gold, for what?
Yes I could just google DH mage tower guide and repeat it, but what’s the fun in that?

Oh come on. The mere fact that you immediately listed these 3 stupid options proves that you are indeed not smart with gold. The game has many, many problems, but getting gold is not one of them.

You know, there is a learning curve in the game between getting started, and literally the hardest solo challenge in the game’s 17 year old history…

just shows you are not really smart handling your gold. and buying tokens for that means you just lost it XD . i had 2-3g repairs…

the secret to that? well thats your next challenge until the mage tower returns
