MAJOR Latency Issues

Having major latency issues that have come out of the blue recently.

My home and world ms is frequently in the high hundreds and occasionally creeping into the thousands. I’ve tried ethernet and wireless, I’ve reset and restarted my router, flushed DNS, updated disabled my addons, none of this is working, followed the steps to reset the UI etc and most of the other things the support pages tell me and i’m now coming here because I’m at a loss.

Getting constant errors of you have been disconnected (both WOW51900319 & BLZ51901016).

My connection is fine for everything else including other games bar WOW, I love playing the game but at the moment I’m paying for something I simply can’t access.

This certainly does sound like there may be some form of obstacle that is causing delays (or even losses) in data transmission between your computer and the game servers. Seeing what you’ve already tried my first suggestion would be to test if the issue might disappear by using a VPN (to alter your routing path towards battle.net) - if it does you’d want to have a chat with the support of your internet service company.

Tools like WinMTR can also be quite useful when it comes to mapping out where along a connection route delays/drops may occur. Please feel free to post the log results here in the thread, if you’d like a second pair of eyes on them.

Really appreciate the reply, I followed the instructions for WinMTR and performed three tests for each of the EU IP Addresses and the results are as follows

From the recorded data there seems to be a notable amount of data packet loss occurring within your local network, specifically between what appears to be your internet modem and another local routing device (maybe a WIFI router in your residence?). These losses then cascade onwards throughout the rest of the connection route.

Packet loss can very much lead to latency spiking wildly, with symptoms much akin to what you’ve described. You’ll want to connect your computer directly to the modem with a good-quality ethernet cable, if that isn’t already the case (if so - try replacing the cable) - this’ll hopefully get things into a much more pleasant state.
