Make Alterac Valley Great Again

Guys, you may have noticed two things in AV that allows Horde winning most of games:

  1. Horde comes to Balinda as fast as Alliance comes to Balinda, not to Galvanger. Meaning that horde starts closer to Alliance base. That means a random rushing Horde team will Always, Naturally kill Balinda faster than a random Alliance team kills Galvanger.
  2. There are 2 ways for Horde to enter Alliance base: via the bridge, and via a hill where Stables are located. Alliance can enter Horde base via one way only: gates between 2 towers at Relief Hut. As a result, it’s much harder for Alliance to defend their base.

This is not exactly a bug: this is a branded unfair advantage Horde had as per 1.12.

I suggest fixing this advantage: as a result we wont have 1.12 AV no more - instead, we will have an AV of equal opportunity that everyone will enjoy.

okay lets talk about horde’s base:
-there is like 0 NPCs around main building with boss
-towers is easily to take off
-also 3 ways to enter main area through west tower
-easy way to kill final boss

ally’s base:
+a lot of NPC around main building
+hard to take off towers
+harder to pull final boss (too many new players who killing important low hp npc)

p.s. sorry for bad eng

You are actually both correct.

Incidentally there is a backdoor into the horde base also but it’s longer and nowhere near as useful. I’d go as far as to argue more useful to the horde themselves.

to be fair, ally’s base is easier to defend

horde can go into ally’s base through hill (backdoor) but it’s very thin way and dangerous if ally’s will protect it

if u want balanced AV, horde side must be reworked, because there is a lot of problems:
-bad tower design and positioning
-no npcs around main house

This whole reaching balinda faster is the most pointless arguement when it comes to winning AV.
You win AV by killing either Drek or Vann.
And we all know who gets to who faster.

technically horde will reach 1st, but many “non premade” games horde will be 2nd :frowning:

Was hoping for the original AV. Not the fifth iteration.

If both sides zerg alliance will kill drek faster in 80% of cases primarily due to the lower number of npc’s in dreks immediate area. If one or both sides do not zerg which side gets more than half way up the map faster suddenly becomes rather relevant indeed.

Sure, but you also know that you have one of the best choke points right after that.
SH GY is a great respawn point, bordered off by the map so that horde has to pass it, while you have archers shooting from the bunkers.
You can easliy sends troops to the south in multiple directions.
You have SH bunker to also help you with that.

The hordes defenses are a joke compared to the alliance.

You can easily skip the SH archers and the GY just running through snowfall side. Also you can avoid most of the dmg from the archers of Icewing Bunker by doing a few jumps.

On the other hand it is absolutely impossible to avoid the dmg from the archers of IB and TP or even stay away from IB GY

Ally have better rush potential, horde are better off defending at first then switching to attack once a small team have taken a northern graveyard.

Is there a problem with that?

I think it’s kinda cool that both have different strategies.
