So… what up with tons of ally players and guilds just getting up and leaving the faction to go to horde? And does this have to do with racials?

More high level PvE players play on horde side. Recruitment is much much easier there.
It does not. Racials are balanced to alliance favored. They’ve been imbalanced in the past, but frequent nerfs to Berserking and Arcane Torrent have fixed most of the issues.

No it’s not about racials.
When you have 2 ponds to choose for fishing, you choose the one with more fishes.
Alliance, once had disadvantage in racials, which made people leave and join horde.
But when they fixed it, it was too late. Now horde had 2% more high end raiders. That 2% became 5%. Then more and more joined horde and now we got like barely 10 alliance guilds in the first 200 guilds.
It’s mostly negligence but at this point, the only fix is cross faction play.
So expect alliance to dry out, blizzard acting when it’s too late with significant advantages and realising how useless and late it is, until eventually when it’s already waaaaay too late, they introduce cross faction play and call it their brilliant idea to solve the issue.

It’s a vicious cycle at this point. Racials don’t make that much of a difference anymore, but in the past Horde had far better PvE racials like Berserking and Blood Fury and Arcane Torrent, so all the top guilds opted to play Horde.
Then the community builds around top guilds and all the other guilds start switching to Horde, and thus there are more raiders in Horde and it’s easier to recruit or look for guilds there, and there’s no reason to switch to Alliance since they’re fairly balanced now.
Every start of expansion when guilds get things ready they get a soft reset so they can choose to level new characters on Horde if they’re on Alliance, that’s why it’s coming up right now I guess.

atleast what remains in the alliance will probably be less toxic so they’ve got that going for em
also its not really surprising… they keep putting more and more focus on the competitive aspect of what should be a RPG so this kind of stuff is bound to happen and it will only get worse
new players if theres still such a thing will not even look at alliance anymore

Nope, alliance racials sim better in PVE not to mention nelf racial that is by far the most broken in M+.
Just people stacking themselves in horde side until the servers wont allow us to play and then we will stack to alliance servers lol

No it has nothing to do with racials
In the very beginning the top guilds went Horde for the racials, for competition.
But over time normal players started going Horde because they copy the top guilds.
Because of that the vast majority of playerbase is Horde which means what?
This means that on Horde you can easily get into pugs, there are 4 times more Keystone groups on Horde than on Alliance. It’s easy to find people, it’s always active.
Now that a new expansion is coming people want to start fresh and use the opportunity to start SL on Horde where everyone is already playing. People simply want to play where the others are also playing. It has a larger pool of players. It’s easier to recruit people since there are just more of them.
Does that make sense?

There are a lot of people leaving the alliance for the horde and there are some people like me who are doing the opposite , just how it works when a faction is above the other really (population wise that is , not racials related)

It definitely would have been the start of it, after all minmaxers go for the extra %'s . When other people catch on its a matter of sink or swim, so people go to the opposite faction to play with the higher level players since the player base there > alliance, hence why WM bonus is always in favor of alliance.
Blizzard have never properly adjusted racials and when they did it was too late and even then you can argue most of the horde racials still out value alliance ones due to the practicality of it, no racial will out weigh the regular troll racial if your main stat is haste.
Alliance have some good racials but damage is done and majority of top end players are horde cause why go back when often than not horde racials will always out weigh alliance ones, since horde have solid racials like belf and troll racials which will Always perform well

Yes. It has to do with racials. From wotlk till WoD horde Racials were the best for everything except pvp. Then they nerfed human racials and suddenly no need to be alliance since horde has had thalassian elf model (most sought alliance race since tbc) and best racials.
Now in bfa we would have the best in mechagnome Racial but it was nerfed twice in development due to horde crying. Now it’s just an ugly race no one wants to play.
Solution to fix faction balance

Mandatory race change for all elves in horde to either troll orc Tauren or undead

Give alliance high elves

Nightborne start neutral race like pandaren

Nerf all horde Racials by 50%

A better more reasonable fix would be to turn racials into a pure cosmetic/ niché thing like Two-forms /Running wild, stuff which has literally nothing to do with PVP/PVE Combat, its just bs nonsense by this point anyway and naturally puts most players at a handicap for not being x-race / class cause of combos being locked behind racials even. I.e warstomp into cyclone, meld rake etc.
Oh and then to give potential means of considering Faction changing put it on sale for 1 month

Better than wasting a 3rd race slot on the same model of elf, if void elf doesn’t draw players over with the customisation being added to them in SL then neither will high elf or nightborne. The active effect of horde racials easily out weigh alliance ones in most cases to the point it would be better to just remove them than try to argue a watered down version

Our guild is leaving the Alliance in favor of the horde as well on our server.
Draenor is heavily horde dominated. There’s just no competition. Half our raids get cancelled because people don’t show up, and we don’t have enough people able to do mythic raids to replace them with.
We have Vulpera (and cookies)…For the FLOOOF!
